Reading Assignments overwhelming

Question

I am an older seminary student and I am having difficulty keeping up with my reading assignments.  It is about 200 pages a week in addition to discussion boards, short papers and lecture material.  Bible reading is awesome, it is the textbooks that I am having difficulty with.  Is there anything on Logos that can help me with all the reading?

I appreciate everyone's input; it all has great value. I did try the Logos Read Aloud feature, but was not really happy with the computerized voice. Great idea, though… hopefully it improves.

I have reached out to fellow students and OTAs for help. I'm definitely taking more notes and looking into better study methods for voluminous reading loads.

This may or may not be relevant to you in your situation, but for what it's worth:  It may be worth while to look into what the best approaches are for studying the different types of material you are facing in seminary.  For example, I was a science major in college, and loved it and found science easy and delightful, but later I went to medical school, and only figured out way too late that a completely different way of studying was needed for studying most medical texts, which involved a great deal of memorization, as contrasted with my science studying in undergraduate college, which involved much less memorizing and more emphasis on understanding complex material.  If I had used different methods for the memorization-heavy material, like studying in groups challenging each other, testing each other, using flash cards, etc., I would have learned the material more quickly and easily, and with less stress.  I just kept using the same approach that had worked so well for me in undergraduate college, and it did NOT work very well for the very different, and very memorization-heavy material of medical school.  It was a long, hard 4 years that could have been a lot easier if I'd known then some things I know now.

So it may be helpful to look at what different kinds of material you are tasked with, especially in the textbooks that you find most challenging, and determining what kind of learning approach is needed for each of them, and maybe asking professors, advisors, or fellow students, what are the most helpful ways to approach the various different types of material you need to master.  It's possible that there are specific ways of studying them that you are not aware of, and that might be helpful.
