Has anyone used Logos Max on one of the new MacBook Neos? I am wondering if I get one if the performance will be the same as with a MacBook Pro which I currently have.
The key factor is which MacBook Pro model, configuration (chip - M1, Mx, or Intel?; memory; storage), and year. In general, the MacBook Pro line is Apple’s high-performance tier, designed for heavier workloads, while the MacBook Neo is positioned as a lower-cost mainstream machine. Apple’s current MacBook Neo uses an A18 Pro chip (derived from iPhone-class silicon), while MacBook Pro models use M-series Pro/Max chips, which are significantly more powerful for sustained professional workloads. If your needs are smaller it might not matter though.
We can give a better answer if you tell us what model, year, memory, storage Pro you have. Also, do you do compute-heavy stuff in Logos like huge layouts, and maybe how big your library is in # of resources, a better answer can be offered!
John had a good discussion:
If your MacBook Pro is an older model, with an Intel processor, the Neo will probably be much faster. If your MB Pro is M2 or newer then it may be better, particularly if it has a lot of RAM.
I have been using a Neo almost daily for a while now and have not found anything it has not been able to do. I am typing this on a NEO. It is certainly able to handle Logos with ease.
The NEO is not designed for top performance, its lower price is the main advantage. But its performance it great for basic tasks including Logos.
