Problem Scenario
I'm in the habit of purchasing books on the site corresponding to their language (e.g. Spanish books on es.Logos.com, German books on de.Logos.com), which provides me with a receipt/confirmation e-mail in that language.
Multiple times this year, however, I've received e-mail that preordered book(s) in Engilsh "está lista para ser descargada." I'd then write to customer service to request receipt(s) for those orders in English, but that:
- Costs time for both customer service and me
- Results in an imperfect replacement receipt, being dated when it is sent to me, rather than with the date when the Pre-Pub shipped.
Diagnosis
In recent months, I've seen evidence for my hypothesis that Pre-Pub orders are completed in the language of the last checkout, e.g. after I'd used es.Logos.com to obtain the "Libro gratuito del mes" (which often isn't unavailable until after the English Free Book of the Month = why my last checkout was often en español, leading to Pre-Pub receipts en español.)
Workaround
I now try to remember to make/plan an English order immediately after any order in another language, but…
Ideas for Fixes
- Do I recall correctly that account profiles used to include a default language preference? I'm not finding it now.
- I recall that the preorder checkout system has changed recently: might this language confusion have also been fixed in the process?
(I'd rather not test it and risk e.g. a Chinese Pre-Pub receipt; but moreover, none of my 35 Pre-Pub orders are scheduled to ship, so I'm currently lacking candidates.) - Perhaps a language could be recorded with the Pre-Pub order? Sounds more complicated and maybe overkill for most customers (I realize that I am unusual).
