Logos 4 & Proxy Servers with Authentication

I have installed Logos 4, but in my normal location I have to access the Internet via a proxy server (Microsoft's own one) which requires authentication (username & password). This seems to prevent Logos 4 from accessing the internet in any way. Other programs just ask me for my proxy username and password when I run them (e.g. itunes) or allow me to enter those once (e.g AVG). Any chance of Logos 4 implementing this?

I can get a direct connection at other locations and get updates that way, but that is rather inconvenient

What operating system are you on?

One temporary solution (if you're comfortable with it and it's allowed in your company) would be to install a local proxy server like fiddler to intercept the Logos requests and forward them to the authenticated proxy.

I forgot to mention that Logos does most of its communication securely, over the HTTPS protocol. So you'll need to check your proxy settings are correct for HTTPS as well as HTTP.

HTTPS works fine with other programs (itunes, IE, Firefox) through the proxy so that is not an issue.

Fiddler does not seem to help, but then I am not sure how to configure it!

What Logos should be doing is prompting me to log on to the proxy server when it starts...

I had the same issue with Libronix Update for Logos 3, (one of you people unhelpfully told me that I had to tell our people to switch off the proxy!) though Logos 3 itself did prompt a login (probably because it was using IE anyway) and I get the alerts etc.

What version of Logos 4 do you have running? You can check it by clicking the round '?' in the top-right corner and selecting About.

Edit: The use of the default proxy settings from the internet explorer settings were implemented in SR-6. If you have SR-6 or SR-7 then this is definitely a regressed bug.

Do you have internet explorer set up with your credentials? I meant that it uses all proxy settings from internet explorer including whatever login credentials are saved there, can you confirm whether or not your login login credentials are saved in the settings? If not, please add them and then try again.

IE does not allow you to enter the username and password into its credentials. It does remember the username and password beween sessions if you ask it but you always have to OK the logon. Other programs (such as AVG and Skype) give you the option to enter all the proxy details directly into the program.

Hello all! Where does one enter/edit the proxy settings in L4?
My clients here (so far two of them) have to pass through Symantec Web Security (proxy server) and L4 needs to be told that...how to go about it? I was told to do a "ctrl-open L4" to bring up some settings but that doesn't seem to work.

I think you have to hold down CTRL until the login window appears. If you let it up before then, it doesn't seem to detect it.

On the login window, there is a proxy settings item to click on.

Opening it up allows you to enter proxy info:

That's the way it works for me. I do have WinXP, though, so I can't speak for Win7.
