A question about buying single books first.

I just wanted to make sure I am right in my assumption that you can't upgrade a single commentary to a collection. For example. I can't afford the complete John MacArthur collection right now. I'm studying the book of John and would like to go on and get his commentary on John 1-11. If a month from now I decide I can afford the entire collection, is there any discount for the twenty dollars I've already spent or am I basically wasting money by buying what I can now.

As far as I know there isn't an upgrade path like the one you are talking about right now.

The only way to know for sure would be to call the Logos sales department and ask. Frequently the Logos sales team can give you a price better than what's on the website so you might be able to afford the commentary collection and just don't know it yet.

You should call and talk to a Sales Rep when you're ready to buy the whole set. My experience has been that they give you a refund on the one volume you bought already (if it was within a reasonable amount of time) and you buy the new series (sometimes they'll even give you a better deal than what is offered on the web), so yes it is effectively like getting a discount for what you've already spent...and more. The full refund on the original volume also means the license for that volume by itself gets locked again, but you'll have access to that volume through the series license, so it all works out fine. I don't know what to suggest a "reasonable amount of time" is but I've had my past purchases honored several months back, so I think a month or two you'd definitely be safe. They've got the 30-day refund policy anyway.

i don't think I always got the "upgrade price", but maybe I did not ask--and in most cases, the upgrade (like College Press COmmentaries) came as part of upgrading to a package (Portfolio).

BUt I echo Rosie's motto (re-phrased)-- "it never hurts to ask!" I do practically all my shopping through one salesdude: jared@logos.com. (every time I mention his name, I think I get 50% off my next purchase. [:P] jk.)

However, Logos will not have as much wiggle room to offer a special deal on John MacArthur because it is not their product. It is a Thomas Nelson or Moody Bible product, and they set the pricing. So Logos is somewhat locked in. They will have some wiggle room, but not as much.
