REQ: 4.1b2 Sentence Diagrams - Apply Formatting to Individual words

Any formatting change is applied to the whole text block (in wrapping columns mode) or to the whole word chain (in single words mode).

Could this please be modified to allow formatting to be applied to individual words, or better still, parts of individual text units as well as to the whole text unit?

Is that a linked chain or individual objects?

You can format individual objects easily enough, but not once they are linked into a chain, unless I'm missing something?

The original request was to be able to apply individual formatting to linked objects, which would be really useful if you've grouped a bunch of things together.

Ah...nope...they are individual objects....

How about fiddling with the text attributes BEFORE joining them?

It seems that it makes sense to modify each "entity" and that when words are joined, they by default, become "one entity"....right?

Also...when using the wrapping text diagram....they are treated as a single unit.....I would also like to see individual formatting available in this mode....

Individual formatting is retained when joining objects, but what if you want to edit an object after linking them? Unlink the whole chain, and relink?

Much easier to be able to apply individual formatting.

Melissa - could this please be added to the requested features database? i.e. to be able to apply individual formatting to linked objects?

You can drag that individual object out of the link, format it, and then drag it back. I tested that in answer to Kevin P's question in another thread.

True, but that seems like a very clumsy workflow - that's a bit like creating a paragraph in MS Word, only to find that to make a word bold, you have to drag it into a paragraph on its own, make it bold, then drag it back in again!

User interface design is all about making tasks as easy and accessible as possible to create smooth and intuitive workflows. The Sentence Diagrammer is great so far, but without the ability to select and modify individual items in chains, it will be of limited value to me.

What if you've spent ages getting all your text lined up, and then decide to format it? It all has to be broken up again.

And what about selecting related items in different chains? That becomes more awkward.

I agree. Formatting should be easier than it is now.

This is my first real experience with Logos Diagrams. I gave up on L3 and created all my diagrams in Accordance. But this new diagrammer seems to have promise, so I will give it an honest test.
