Greek Audio New Testament

For anyone who has used the Greek Audio New Testament in Libronix/Logos 3 and then used it in Logos 4/Logos 4 Mac, it is plain to see that the L4 version is not as fully featured as it was in L3.
- There is no text-following arrow.
- There is no speed changing ability.
- There is no passage limiting ability.
- There is no icon bar.
In short, it's a pale shadow of what it was.
I would like to suggest that the above list of omissions be addressed, in order of numerical priority, so that we can have a resource at least equivalent to what we had before under L3.

Alan,
I'd agree. I was assuming that this was a "prelim" release and that features were to follow...
If the pattern holds true...then L4's final implementation will outshine L3's.

There is no icon bar.I have the Greek Audio NT, so can comment:
- I get a target redrawn at the start of each verse, and a dancing "blob" that follows each word by word as it reads. I expect, but have not checked, that its subject to the program setting for "Show Visual Cues".
- True. Its nice to have "Slow" when learning as for V3.
- True. Be nice to have it read a given range then stop.
- I'm not sure what this means. I have created an Icon in the Toolbar for the command "Start Reading Aloud" which makes it go. There is a small window in the upper-right while its active. It supports Pause/Play/Quit or Seek to a new location (i.e. Play it Again Sam)

Jim
In Logos 4 Mac I only get a flare at the start of each verse. No dancing blob. [:(]
I suppose I could create a read aloud icon, but in L3 there was an icon bar with various controls to vary speed, jump verses, insert passage limits. It was/is really useful.
Every blessing

Hi Jim,
I am surprised that you are getting the dancing 'blob'... I am playing the Greek Audio NT in 4d SR1 on a PC through Windows 7 and am not getting the same results... 'Show Visual Cues' is marked 'Yes'... How strange...
Do you find that switching 'Show Visual Cues' to 'No' deactivates the tracker? I was also wondering if you were a Beta tester and whether this is a new fix? Did you get the same results in 4d (pre-Beta)?
Sorry for the list of questions, but it would be really helpful to get this feature working in L4. Any pointers would be gratefully received!
Thanks in advance!
Andy

Hi Andy,
I have two different versions of NA27 as follows:
- LOGOSNA27.Logos4
- NA27INT.Logos4
One license came with my Logos 2 Level-3 Boxed set about 14 years ago. It did not use to work word-by-word with Logos3, so I purchased the other NA27 product, which then did have the word-by-word tracking under L3.
Testing just now, with Logos 4.1 Beta 3, both of them work just fine. For both of them, I get a light-green blob dancing along each word as the audio plays. Also, if I have Cues=ON, then I also get a target drawn at the start of each verse as everything progresses.
I'm sorry, I don't remember what they did under Logos 4.0x. I do remember, some time back under Logos3, that only the one would follow along, which is why I purchased it. From memory, something like US$99 or $127 about a year ago.
I am using Windows Vista 32.

I too get the dancing blob. L4.1B3 on Vista. It works in na27.logos4, , logosna27.logos4, na27int.logos4, and logosna27int.logos4.

I don't own it, but I'd like to.

Hi all,
We're aware of these issues and we're working on them.
Thanks!

Thanks, everyone for the assistance with this, but I suspect I am one of those with 'issues' (at least that is what my wife likes to tell me).
I have tried it with NA27, NA27 (with GRAMCORD) and the NA27 interlinear. When I opt for 'Read aloud' it does just that... Only I don't seem to have the bouncing ball...
I can muddle along for now...And look forward to a fix!
Thanks very much again

I got Logos 4 for Christmas and I am really missing the functionality of The Greek Audio New Testament that I had in Libronix 3. Has there been any progress on this resource?
Thanks, David

Things have progressed since we were posting about this in the summer.
Accessed from menu drop-down (at least in Logos 4 Mac, can't speak for Windows version).
- Read aloud works reasonably, though sound quality is a bit rough.
- Tracking works well with "bouncing ball" keeping up as well as it did in Libronix.
- if you have a passage selected in NA 27, say Mark 1:1-15, it does not stop at the end of your passage.
- Still no speed control though.
See screen shots below:
So, all-in-all, I'd say that there has been enough progress, so that IMHO, it is usable with Logos 4 Mac, as long as you can follow the standard reading speed.
Like you, I look forward to it being fully-functional.

I set up a layout with the ESV and the NA27 and I linked them so that they would track. I get NO SOUND from the Greek NT. However, when I select the "Read Aloud" option for the ESV, I get the twangy robotic voice that reads the English. So, I know my speakers are on and I know that I can get some sound out of Logos 4 (plus I get the "start up" music.) You can see my layout here:
Now I don't think that my Greek Audio Bible has transferred from
Libronix 3 to Logos 4! And the really frustrating thing is that I don't
know WHERE the Resources directory IS for Logos 4. I know where the
Resources directory for Libronix 3 is and I back that directory up to
DVD in case of catastrophic disk failure. BUT - I have no idea where to
go to check the resources that I have with Logos 4. (I guess that's a
gripe for another post somewhere [;)] )In the meantime, I think I'll find the Greek Audio Bible disc and try reloading it onto my computer.
Thanks again and "Happy New Year!" David

Hi Alan,
I found the solution to my problem! [8-|]
The fix (for me on a Windows XP system) is to make sure that my Windows Media Player is at version 10 or better. You can see that in the last post on this page. The poster got his information from Logos Tech Support.
Thank you for your help.

Since I absolutely loathe Windoze (because it's junk) [:@] [8o|] and Micro$oft (because they couldn't possibly care less about their customers) [:@] [8o|] - and since my Logos 4 Bible study library will work on other than a Windows-based computer, I am hoping to be a

David,
I was really just having fun with you....a pet peeve of mine is the sweeping comment....and so i thought I'd just give you a "small prodding"....lol....
I have spent some time witnessing to non-believers and spotting faulty arguments and things is a habit....it gets me into trouble on the forums sometimes because where others might automatically read "IMHO" into everything....I don't....
So...no harm no foul....I was just having fun.....

I don't know if this reply is appropriate to this thread or if it belongs in another place on the Forum, but here goes ... [6]
I don't often make a "sweeping comment" in consideration of exceptions to a generalized rule (of which there are often many) - except in the case of Micro$oft!!! HA! HA! [:D] LOL! (I guess in that regard I am unrepentant! [:$] )
Also, to your other comment about spotting faulty arguments, I have spent some time witnessing to people involved in cults and spotting faulty arguments in that context. [I know that 2 John 10 is used sometimes to say we shouldn't have anything to do with them, but they are in need of a Savior as well!]
And as far as "No harm, no foul" - no offense taken nor did I perceive any offense intended! [:)] I thought your comment was quite appropriate.
