New Lexham resources on Prepub!

Two things don't look right - The Lexham High Definition OT says 6 volumes but only 3 books are shown. And the Lexham Discourse Bible Bundle says 12 volumes but only 6 are shown?

Also, is the Lexham Discourse Bible Bundle a superset of all the other resources?

Yep I have read over these 4 new Lexham products on PrePub and I am totally confused - I can't tell the overlap, and I presume some books come out later - for additional cost?

When I ordered the Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bundle earlier this afternoon it was only 6 volumes but shortly later it suddenly changed to 12 volumes except in the place Kevin indicates above!

Maybe they'll do a blog to explain all this. The pictures of the books don't match either. And the explanations don't really explain the difference between the products very well IMHO.

Yes, there must be some typos and missing volume descriptions in some of those 4 bundles. (I almost typed "bungles" -- which would have been appropriate! [:)])

However, looking at the titles and into the descriptions of all of them, and finding this key nugget in one of them: "The Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bible Bundle (12 Vols.) includes all of the resources from the Lexham High Definition Old Testament, making it the best value..." I am guessing that here's the intent:

1. Lexham High Definition Old Testament: The Pentateuch (3 Vols.) -- includes High Def OT for only the Pentateuch

2. Lexham High Definition Old Testament (6 Vols.) -- same as #1 but for the whole OT

3. Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bible Bundle: The Pentateuch (6 Vols.) -- includes both High Def OT and Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bible (Pentateuch only for both)

4. Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bible Bundle (12 Vols.) -- same as #3 but for the whole OT

So, #2 includes all of #1; #3 includes all of #1, which means it overlaps with #2 some; and #4 includes everything.

Thus don't order more than one of these, since they all overlap with each other. #4 is the best value as it includes everything.

Logos does need to fix up the erroneous product description pages, though.

EDIT: Further evidence to support my theory. See the Lexham Greek New Testament Bundle. It includes both the Lexham Discourse Greek New Testament and Lexham High Definition New Testament. I would expect the Hebrew products to be completely analogous to the Greek ones.

I was totaly confused by the descriptions too until I read your post. I think you are 100% correct but it will be nice to see the descriptions be as clear as Rosie.!

I imagine Logos is accomodationg users who focus all their studies on the Pentateuch. That's a nice option but I'm with Ted; the whole Hebrew bundle looks nice.

I think we all wish we had a Rosie! I knew offering a "Pentateuch only" option versus only the whole Hebrew Bible might open a can of worms. Bundling the English version with the Hebrew is enough potential confusion, let alone buying it in pieces. We are in the process of making some helpful changes, but the templates for the pages are not being cooperative. Most of the projects I have worked on for Logos are first-time things. I am really looking forward to doing some second-time and third-time things, but not sure when that will happen. We are working on consolidating the pages to just Hebrew and English, with the option of buying all or part up at the ordering buttons. Thanks for your patience and support of this project. I hope there is enough interest to complete the entire OT!

We'll work on getting these things corrected this week. These products have been in the prepub line for a while, glad they are finally up. This is the first time we have offered a portion of a database for sale that Logos has produced. We are working on finding better ways of explaining this, but the solution is still in process.

I am not trying to inflate your ego but you, sir, are one of the precious jewels in the Logos vault. I appreciate everything you have done at Loos so far and hope to see many "second-time" things, "third-time" things, and even some "fourth-time" things.

I hope there is enough interest to complete the entire OT!

This was a rather large discussion for us as we prepared these. If I many, I'd like to attempt to explain the numbers going on here:

Why 12 volumes when we only have six pictures?

In releasing both the Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bible Bundle and the Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bible Bundle: The Pentateuch, there was some concern that we'd cause confusion over the fact that both pre-pubs have the exact same number of volumes when one was only a small portion of the other. For that reason, "12 Vols" represents those future volumes included:

Poetic Books (Hebrew & English)
Prophets (Hebrew & English)
History (Hebrew & English)

All these together equal 6 more volumes (and thus 12 total).

Unfortunately, this caused more confusion.

We're working on getting a new solution that will be much more clear in the next few days.

Its actually because we weren't initially sure about what kind of interest there would be and planned on offering portions of the OT over time as interest in the project continued. This is also the reason for the strange volume numbers (see my post directly above.).

What would remove all confusion would be to see a chart with all 4 resources on the Pre pub page put side by side so we can see what we get in one resource and what the bundle includes. For example, does the bundle include all resources in the other 3 pre pub offers?

Yes. If you order the Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bible Bundle, then it will function the exact same way the LXX interlinear and Hebrew OT interlinear did, where the newly completed books will be automatically updated.

Yes. We're just giving you an option between:

The LXX interlinear model where you paid for everything at once and received it over time as it was completed
The commentary set model where you pay for individual "volumes" as they are produced.

The first is going to be the best deal in the long run in terms of overall savings, but we wanted to give you choices -- we didn't know what kind of interest we'd see for being able to produce it all at once.
