Unusual behavior with Power Lookup?

When I search "Power Lookup" in this forum, there are 9 pages of hits and I simply do not have the time to go through them all to see if this item has been addressed or not ... my apologies in advance if it has.

If I am reading the NASB, for example, and I right click on a word and select "Power Lookup", the PL window appears listing many Bible versions and a few commentaries. For my example, I right clicked on the word "iron" in Isa 60:17 (NASB). The Power Lookup window looks like this ...

If I click on, say, ASV, to open a window with that translation, it will open a new window to the appropriate passage. Again, all well and good.

But, if I close the ASV window, the PL window now automatically changes to "References NASB95" and looks like this ...

I do not understand why PL is doing this (bug?).

Furthermore, if you look carefully, you will note that the references listed (b, c, and a) are not associated with any particular verses. In this case "b and c" relate back to Isa 60:16 in the NASB and "a" relates back to Isa 60:18 but you wouldn't know it by looking at this window.

Again, I do not understand why the PL window is switching to NASB References and, if it is correct in doing this, why the references are not clear as to which verse they pertain.

I think what you are looking for is the information window rather then the Power Lookup window. The power lookup displays all the notes/footnotes in your text, So if you have a footnote "g" at verse 17 in the power lookup window you will see a g, the cross references at that footnote, and then the text for all those cross references.

The information window displays information for items you click or hover hover. hover over a word with the information window open for a couple of seconds and you'll see the type of information it gives you.

Yes, I agree with you, Philip. But what I am saying is that if I right click on a passage and the select Reference/Power Lookup from the popup menu, I do not get the cross references in the Power Lookup window as you would if you select PL from the Tools menu. Rather, you get what I show in my first snip above which is other translations and some commentaries (which I actually like). Then, if I select, say, one of the other translations, it will open up the appropriate window but when I then close it, the PL window automatically switches to the References. All I am saying is that something doesn't seem correct.

I think the comment about the references is pertinent, as well. To simply list b,c,a,b,c,d,a, etc. is not much help. Each cross reference in the PL window should refer back to the original verse. So, instead of simply listing references for b,c,a,b,c,d,a the PL window should be something like 20b, 20c, 21a, 21b, 21b, 21c, 25a. If you are looking at the cross refs for the first verse in the reading window, it's no big deal since the first ref in the PL window will be the one that corresponds. But try finding the refs for a verse 2/3s of the way down the page ... very awkward.

I duped this and what you are seeing is "all of the references on the visible page"

In the case of the NASB there are LOTS of little numbered cross refs.

Do this; in Verse 18; highlight the "a" in front of the first word and watch what happens.

You get just the one note reference.

You didn't even NEED to right click the word "iron" and choose powerlookup because it WON'T DO what you're asking...

You are wanting "show information" about that word right?

Power lookup is a totally diffferent animal.

the power lookup is automatically set to "follow". This means that when you close the ASV, it begins to show the inline references for whichever resource is in focus - in your case, NASB. If you wish to return to the Power Lookup list as it was before selecting an item, make sure that you select "none" from the follow selections in the top left drop down.

I have complained about this a couple of times. There are two distinct uses for the power lookup tool, one is to run quick searches on verses, words, etc; the other is to read inline references. These functions should be separated.
