In case this thread may disapear in the new discsussion forum I would like to thank every body to all of you for the participation and for the good time we have had.
We have become friends through the forum
Of course we are brothers and sisters in the Lord,Isn't it interesting how we are joined together as friends though the forum as well.some ask and others take time to answer questions. We have also expressed how we feel one another with the posts of Dann.If it doesn't offend any body ,I would like to know to introduce ourselves by mentioning only in which country and city we are.You know some times I find myself laughing and smiling. Before yesterday ,while I was on the phone in different times with different brothers my eyes were concentrated to the forum, and I laughed with out being aware. What I want to say is not to tell you ,what I have done what I shouldn't do,but more interesting is how I enjoy the communication with different brothers and sisters in the forum. So if you just name the country and city you live, I consider it as a valuable present.I would like to thank everybody and logos for giving us this opportunity.

Australia has been in my mind, since I was 3rd grade.I was taught in the school .Australia was number one in sheep, and how is it now
According to some 2005 figures China was leading the way:
The world population of sheep in 2005 was just over one billion. China
has about 170 million sheep, most of which are raised for meat. Australia, with about 100 million, and New Zealand,
with about 50 million (much more than their human population), dominate
the world export trade in sheep products. Large numbers of sheep are
also found in other Asian countries, Europe, Africa, and South America (Miller 1998). Source:http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Sheep
And there is http://www.sheep101.info/ and Sheep 201 for further information about raising them... apologies if this is off topic but we are all like sheep that have gone astray.
Tes,
Like Dave I come from Australia. But I'm from Sydney which is higher and better than Melbourne.
I am gradually translating the whole Bible. Because I do this while travelling on the train when finished it will be the first trainslation of the Bible.
Because I am old, I am still using Logos 3. Nothing wrong with that .... I am still using WordPro.

I live and pastor the church in Cesky Tesin, the oldest town of the Ostrava metropolitan area in the Czech Republic. This year our church celebrated 100 years of existence and our town 1200 years since its legendary beginning. It used to be the capital of the Austrian Silesia. Our town is devided between Czech Republic and Poland, it used to be called in the past Teshen in German or Cieszyn in Polish.
You can find some more information about Silesia here and about the Teschen Silesia (The Duchy of Teshen) here.

Bohuslav,
I'm sure I must have at least been through Cesky Tesin on my travels, tho I spent more time in Nova Paka, Kyjov, Olomouc. I forget now. I have to confess I actually spent most of my time in Slovakia. Celebrated the Velvet Revolution partly in Prague (as I walked down Bartolomejska I was actually followed by a guy who was obviously STB, but not yet aware that he'd been dissolved - till I turned round and started following him - and then he disappeared!!) and mostly in Presov. I haven't been back to Czech Republic and Slovakia since democracy as I was spending all my free time in Albania before coming to live here permanently in 1993.

Great to hear that Nicky,
On your travels from Prague to Presov (Slovakia) you probably passed trough our town. Main train track from Prague to Slovakia goes through our place. This railway has been one of the reasons our town had been cut in two parts between Poland and Czechoslovakia after WW One (to keep it in one country) [:)]

I'm an American living in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The best city in the world to live, according to several different published rankings. I originally came up here from Seattle in 1996 to attend Regent College (international graduate school of Christian studies), got my Masters degree in 2004, and ended up settling in Vancouver. The work I do I could do from just about anywhere, so I decided to choose a place to live that I love and that has easy connections with the network of friends and collaborators I've made through Regent. I've been a "permanent resident" of Canada since 2006. Not planning to apply for citizenship since I still feel very much like an American, but I do find myself slipping into Canadianisms every once in a while, eh? [:)] And I still can't think in Celsius!
I am a minister in the Church of Scotland in Banff (the original) linked with King Edward in North-East Scotland. Aged 63 now, I was planning to retire to Portessie, a little hamlet on the outskirts of Buckie about 20 miles away, but the Lord has other plans and I have just accepted a call to be the minister until I'm 70 in Buckie South & West linked with Enzie (pronounced Ingy - Portgordon) Parish Churches. So I'll be moving in about six weeks time.
I've just submitted my PhD thesis to University of Aberdeen and am preparing to defend it in the next two months.
I have never left my native shores (I have been to England a few times) but being part of this forum fellowship makes me feel a real internationalist. [Maybe that's the Lord preparing me for glory (Galatians 3:28).] [:D]

Wow, that's great to hear. Be glad you got those stamps in those days. No stamps anymore now. We are part of Schengen and at our borders with Poland there is no police anymore. What a change from the times I still remember when they would shoot you if you would try to cross the river...

Graham and Ted, are you going to Morris Procter's seminar in London in Feb? Maybe we can meet up? I hope to make a trip back to England for that! I used to live in London, but have been in Albania for the last 17 years. I teach the Bible via storying and bind up wounds and burns on the side in a small Muslim village.

Ted,
Sometime around 15th Feb at Proclamation Trust if I'm not mistaken. There's a taster and a full seminar. My one hesitation is the weather this end. My neighbour housesits and is not always effective at thawing frozen pipes, sometimes with expensive consequences. But Global Warming has reduced this risk!
Where are you in London? I usually stay with friends in Beckenham.

Over the past 13 years, I've served two pastorates in Vancouver, BC. Prior to that I was a missionary in North Africa. Though I haven't posted much on these forums, I read them often and greatly enjoy them, not only for the help with Logos, but also just because it is such a joy interacting with brothers and sisters in Christ from all over the world, and from many different Christian traditions. Blessings to all!

Hi Darcy S. would you like to mention ,in which country you were?
Hi Tes,
I'd be happy to give you more info if I could, but I'm afraid it might jeopardize workers who are currently there. Let's just say I spent several years in one of the 3 former French colonies bordering the Mediterranean directly south of Spain, France, and Italy. Before that I spent almost 3 years in France.

Hello Nancy,
Saw your post. Glad to have you here. 47 miles is a long way to go for church on the east coast like that. What do you think about the commute? I have some experience with long commutes to church myself. I actually enjoyed the long commute. It allowed me time to "prepare" for service and/or really think about what was said and how it can impact me.

Hi Tes,
I'm originally from Ethiopia (yet another Ethiopian :-)) and live in Germany (I love Cologne[:D])
I work as a computer programmer.
My Ethiopian Christian site iyesus.com is the first site to offer online Amharic Bible search functionality. I've also developed a standalone Amharic Bible Software called Iota which you can download from iyesus.com for free. Iota of course can not be compared with the huge logos.
Anyways, nice to be here and meet some nice guys!

Welcome, Yared! Wow, you're a great addition to this community! Tes has really been hoping for an Amharic Bible in Logos, but I know how difficult it is for Logos to get new foreign language Bibles for languages that nobody in-house speaks. I was trying to help Tes find some way to help Logos get the work done to convert the digital files (already available for download in places on the web) into Logos format. They essentially need someone to be a liaison for them to get the publishing rights (if it's not public domain) and proof-check the resource once it's been built, write a blurb in Amharic for the catalogue, stuff like that. Would you be willing to be of assistance?

Hi Rosie,
I'm willing to help as long as the effort does not exceed the sphere of my abilities and available leisure.
In my view, the first step is to analyse the logos format so to decide whether there is any suitable Amharic bible available on the web that can be converted to the Logos format. This analysis could also help to make initial effort estimation for the task. For example if the logos format requires that every word in the Bible for a given language needs to be coded with Strong's numbers, then this could be a make or break criteria. Because, as far as I know, there is no Amharic Bible coded with the Strong's numbers. The task of coding the Amharic words with Strong's numbers may be beyond Logo's capabilities.

While some foreign language Bibles in Logos do indeed have Strong's coding (e.g. the Russian Bible), the most basic ones (e.g., the Finnish Bible -- Raamattu) don't need to have much in the way of special tagging. Just the verse numbers so you can navigate properly to the right verse from the reference box. I presume that since the Amharic characters are part of Unicode, then indexing would work the normal way without any special processing, so Bible search would work. There would be no intelligence about "Match all word forms," though. That's OK. Just getting the Amharic Bible into Logos would be a big help to Amharic speakers.
Can I contact you by leaving a message on the contact page of our iyesus.com website? I know absolutely zero Amharic but I was able to find the contact page by hovering over the tabs, and I can turn off the "write in Amharic" checkboxes.
Welcome, Yared! Wow, you're a great addition to this community!
Hi Rosie,I am
glad now you have contacted the right person. He is similar to you he does all
the job during the night after he comes from his work .There is no one committed
person I could expect and who has knowledge about how to adapt the Amharic Bible in electronic like him.He is one
of those who look their reward from the
Lord in His glory. It is my prayer to see one day the Amharic bible
included in logos format.
May the Lord
bless you and give you achievement.

I taught at Bingham Academy in Addis Ababa for 2 years and just loved it. My youngest son and I miss the injera, fir fir, and macheattos in Kolfe. What a beautiful and diverse country Ethiopia is. Rugged mountains and desert plains. My oldest son is in Addis until September visiting friends that he still has there and has emailed me about going to many of our favorite places in Addis like The Melting Pot, Fasika, Golf Club, and some places up on Bole. Driving in Addis will always be a fun memory. Nothing like dodging the donkeys, gray and blue. Blessings to you both,
Ciao,

Ethiopia is such a wonderful place and the people are just fantastic. My sons were 16 and 10 at the time we left for Ethiopia and to be honest, they were not that excited about leaving the only home they ever knew. My oldest is now 20 and is visiting there now and would live there if he could. Always laugh when I think of the blue donkeys with people hanging out screaming, "Bole, Bole, Bole."

G'day Tes,
I live in Brisbane, Australia. I have been using Logos Bible sofware for many years. My first package was LL2.0 Scholars Library
I am a layperson who likes to study the scriptures. I have an interest in the Old Testament and particularly the Pentatecuh and I am exploring the Hebrew Language. I recently started a Certificate in Theology through Moore Theological College. I attend MPC where I am involved as a Sunday School Teacher.
Up until now I haven't really ventured into the forums, I've had some personal issues to deal with, but from now on will be a regular around here as I once was on the old Logos Newsgroups.
Its nice to meet you. [:D]

Hey MC ,
I've been unwell lately with flu and asthma so didn't make it today or to last Sunday's service, should be back in action next week.
We do sometimes say down under. Once of our unoffical anthems of course is I come from the land down under, a song sung by an Australian group, Men at Work in the 80's.
For a little bit of a look at my home town, Brisbane, have a look at this video.
Thanks for the video, Andrew. Enjoyed it immensely. Didn't realise that Brisbane was so large! *smile* Wikipedia has what I think is a good "take" on Brisbane.Good to hear from you, Andrew! *smile* Peace to you ........... and Joy in the Lord .....

I pastor in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. I have been here for about 5 1/2 years. Prior to that I served as a missionary in West Africa, residing first in Nigeria and then in Burkina Faso. I have also travelled to Mali, Niger, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, Ghana, Cameroon, Central African Republic as well as residing in France for a year in the midst of all of that.
I enjoy Logos for Mac and the Logos iPad app. For a while I was wondering about my purchase, but they have really taken the Mac software up a notch and it is great!!

I would be very grateful to see contributing to this thread ,Myself there is nothing ,which I can take it as granted I am very grateful to every one and everything I have got through the Forum.
Blessings in Christ.
Fairfield, CA....love studying God's word and have thoroughly enjoyed Logos 4 ever since I made the purchase last year. Still navigating the ins and outs of the program but the forums are a very nice platform to see how connected we really are in the world because of God's grace...God bless
Well come beloved.May the Lord bless you abundantly and bless you in your Bible studies.
Blessings in Christ.
I am a former engineer who turned to the ministry in 2004 after the company where I worked was closed. I returned to school and earned my Bachelor's degree in General Ministry. I am currently serving a small congregation in Palmyra, Illinois and have been here for a year and a half. I previously served five years in another small congregation across the state. I have used Logos software for four and a half years, having upgraded to Logos 4 when it was first released.
I too appreciate very much the time and effort that so many Logos users put into helping others on these forums. I have had many questions answered here and those answers have helped me to use the software more effectively. However, I am learning (recently) that this is not the place to get into deep discussions about our different doctrines and beliefs nor to debate interpretations of Scripture. Those types of discussions are best left to in person, face to face conversations.
I am from Newport News, VA USA
Welcome to L4 and to the forums. I lived in Hampton 1971–73 while my sub was undergoing overhaul/conversion at NN Shipbuilding/Drydock
I am in Lynchburg, VA. The past four years I have been a full time seminary student and "mr. mom." I just graduated with my MDIV and am looking to move back to Michigan, where my wife's family is from.

I remember starting a similar thread back on the NG. Neat to see it resurrected and if there's been any changes.

I live in the Glendale, Arizona in the greater Phoenix area. I got started with Logos 3 when my son started at Phoenix Seminary. He surveyed the various Bible study software packages available in 1999 and concluded that Logos was the best. I bought a Scholars package for him and a Leaders package for myself.
I participate in a Phoenix Logos Users Group (PLUG) which holds meetings about once a month for the last year and a half. Our next meeting will be just after the final round of the Logos March Madness Sale so that we can compare notes and glean through the book choices together. Last year I invited my pastor and he had great suggestions. Otherwise, I would have never chosen Carson's "Gagging of God" based on the title. This year I'm trying to get one of the faculty of Phoenix Seminary to help us.
These forums have been a great help; especially for ideas on organizing notes. I also learned about mind mapping software from the forums.
Of course we are brothers and sisters in the Lord, ... would like to thank everybody and logos for giving us this opportunity.

Praise the Lord! Wow! L.A. I greet you in the preciouse name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Hanau is my favourate city. Before 1997 I lived in Seligenstadt kreis Offenbach. I went there very offten. After 1997 I lived in Mühlheim Dietsenheim ,until I moved to Frankfurt in 2001. We had weekly Bible Study in Hanau. From Muhleheim Dietsenheim I was using S8 up to Hanau Hauptbanhof then the Bus Number 2 ,so Freiheit Platz und Markt platz were the place where I regularly went for shopping. This thread is very important for me it just makes me to think from where we could communicate each other through the Logos forums. May the Almighty God bless you.

Hey - do you know Café Gruber? (Aschaffenburger Str. 37, 63500 Seligenstadt)
I went there from time to time to drink and buy Colombian Coffee (I lived there some years), that really tasted Colombian (all the other sold in "supermarkets" were disappointing). I am not 100% sure but think that Gruber sell also fresh grounded Ethiopian Coffee. You are from Ethiopia, aren't you?

Hi L.A. I know Aschaffenburger Str. very well.I lived in Bahnhof strasse it is some mtrs.away, but I don't remember the Coffee shop, I don't drink coffee it could be perhaps the very reason that I couldn't remember it.
I am from Eritrea. But, it makes no difference in my mind whether I am from Ethiopia or Eritrea. Before I have come to Deutschland all I knew was about Ethiopia, Let God bring peace to these countries to live in a mutually way.
I consider Seligenstadt as my native country. I Love it very much I go almost one time a year. When I was in Seligenstadt I used to go to Nazarener gemeinde seligenstadt, currently I live in Schwanheim in Frankfurt am Main.Where are you living currently.

Hi everyone, I live in Davison, Michigan (about an hour north of Detroit) where I pastor Trinity Lutheran Church (LCMS). Previously, I have served congregations in northern Wisconsin, the U.P. of Michigan (I'm a "Yooper" by birth), and in the Downriver area of metro Detroit.
I started using Logos shortly after I graduated from sem in 1990's. I've been learning much through these forums - especially the fact that I have much to learn.[;)] I just wanted to say 'thanx' to all who are sharing their knowledge and experience here, really appreciate what I've learned so far.

I live on a farm near the village of Milo, Alberta, Canada. Raised Lutheran (ELCIC) and now attend St Stephen's Anglican Church in Calgary when I can. Even though this thread is over 7 years old I never contributed too it. But reading through it was a real blessing. The numerous people we no longer regular hear from and those dear souls who have gone on to be with our God. God bless you all. And inspired by the gentleman who share some words of wisdom and the coming up closing of JFB complete, I would love to share words of wisdom from the great Saint Jerome:
When the venerable John could no longer walk to the meetings of the Church but was borne thither by his disciples, he always uttered the same address to the Church; he reminded them of that one commandment which he had received from Christ Himself, as comprising all the rest, and forming the distinction of the new covenant, “My little children, love one another.” When the brethren present, wearied of hearing the same thing so often, asked why he always repeated the same thing, he replied, “Because it is the commandment of the Lord, and if this one thing be attained, it is enough” [Jerome].

Thank you Dan for introducing yourself and contributing to this thread. This thread reminds me the good time we had with our brothers and sisters. Some like Steve Clark, and others have gone to the Lord and some are not active in the forum as they used to. I just miss every body. May the Lord bless every body !
Blessings in Christ.
The forum is a blessing, and there is a bond that does develop among those who participate. Certainly, most of us share a bond of faith in Jesus Christ and a passion for God's Word. We share a love for Logos Bible Software. We share a desire to help others.
I am thankful for all who participate in these forums. I have been blessed and helped by so many of you.
Tes, this thread is a reminder of all that. So, from an old Methodist preacher in a small town in Mississippi (USA), "Thanks, y'all! And thank you, Tes, for this thread."
"In all cases, the Church is to be judged by the Scripture, not the Scripture by the Church," John Wesley
Hello from Valencia, Spain!
I'm a Spanish catholic IT teacher, proud father of three children, and a student at Domuni, the Angelicum online university.
This thread is a absolutely nice idea, Tes. May I ask FL to be at the top of the forum always, to invite each member to introduce him/herself?
I love the ecumenical and open-minded spirit of this forum. I just suggest another thread where we could introduce the way the cult is done in our own local churches, say in Christmas, or at any other moment, with photos. It would be more vivid than reading a book, and would help us know the rich world we are living in.
May God bless you all.

Welcome Scott. By naturalization I am a German citizen. My origin is Ethiopian and Eritrean. I have never been Eritrean without being Ethiopian and vice versa. My ancestors are from Eritrea. But I have been grown up being Ethiopian. I love Ethiopia and Eritrea, but I have nothing to claim from both of them. In reality I am in a country where I can claim my rights. So I can proudly say that my country is Germany.
Blessings in Christ.
@Tes - this thread made it to the other side. 🙂
Well, Tucson, Arizona, USA here. I want to go a bit more Tes. Sorry....I am a career changer. The Lord has closed doors on my first career ( and for that I am grateful). I was a Teacher of Mathematics and Physical Sciences to 13-17 year olds. I believe the Lord is seeming to open a couple of paths. I am starting in the next month a few courses in biochemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry. In the mean time, my pastor has asked me to teach a lesson and I can see it leading to more. He has agreed to check out nontraditional paths to enter the ministry. An opportunity that I was feeling was closed perm. for me. I will just have to see. In the summers here we get temperatures that are about 43 degree C as highs and lows about 30 degree C.
Hello Tes,
I'm from West Virginia, USA.
I'm not a Pastor, nor am I even a teacher or any other church office holder.
I just love studying His word...and Logos is a great way to do it!
God bless,
bob
