B7 High CPU usage

Why is L4 using so much CPU when opening resources? I opened L4 empty. Opened the highlighter. Then opened the ESV. CPU went up to 175 and fluctuated above 100 for three full minutes before leveling off. 65 temp files were created during this time. I opened the NIV and the same thing happened for two full minutes, again creating 65 temp files. Is this normal behavior? I wouldn't expect to see this just from opening up on resources.

Actually I've noticed it is a little harder on my MB. Nothing concrete as I've not monitored CPU but definitely slower at doing things from the getgo

There was one note file, but that was it. I disabled and restarted to try it again. Same thing this time. three minutes.

Looking at your logs, I'm seeing this line:

{ Preferences, pref:UserVisualFilterPreferences/Document:VisualFilter:e69c6bb0a5494733a2baa3dcb024375c, , False }

Which suggests that you've you've got a Visual Filter document. I'll do some more digging, but my ~~wild speculation~~ suspicion is that there is some fairly broad search criteria defined in this document that is trying to apply highlighting to the resource. If so, it maybe the underlying searches that are likely chewing up your CPU.

I deleted the Visual Filters and now I can load an entire workspace from start-up in only two minutes. I will use more caution with how I create them.
