The Determination of When to Publish Resources

I apologize if this has been asked before or it is available somewhere else such as Wiki. How does Logos determine when resources will be published? I ordered the Expositor's Greek Testament in August 2008 when it first went into development. It is still in development more than two years later. Yet there have been many other resources that were only in development a short time and then published. A resource that was in Community Pricing in July 2010 is being published in October 2010. Does it depend on the complexity of the resource or how old the original resource is? There just does not seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how fast a resource is published. Thank you.

It has been asked before and no, it is not in the wiki.

The best we've heard has to do with the complexity and size of the resource. I suspect staffing plays a factor, as well as how many other works are in the pipeline at the same time. Occasionally (like the ESV Study Bible) there may be a licensing or fee structure issue being worked out with the owner. How many people are waiting for the pre-pub and the profit to be realized may be a factor.

The recent glut of releases is unprecedented, but like you, I still am awaiting a few resources that went under development a long time ago.

There just does not seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how fast a resource is published.

It is not always apparent to those of us outside of the loop. A few other factors not mentioned are the availability of usable digital scans, the amount of tagging or special formatting required, special linguistic requirements (right now Logos is advertising an employment position for a Chinese speaker), licensing issues, and the occasional theft of the entire Mac development lab. Some titles fly out the door while others languish forever. This month I wish a few more had stalled out. My Pre-Pub of Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library is about to jump several hundred dollars. Be careful what you ask for. If everything was released at once you may have to make unpleasant choices.
