Question: Selecting all sections in Print/Export

I want to experiment a bit with printing in exporting. The resource I'm working with is A. W. Pink's "The Divine Covenants". When I open the print/export window, it has the "Use these sections:" radio button selected on the left and the checkbox for the section representing the current page checked.

What I want to do is check the checkbox next to every section all at once. I can't figure out a way to do that. I can start individually checking checkboxes, but it makes me wait longer and longer every time I check another one. Given that I haven't told Logos what I want to do with those checked sections, I'm not sure why it has to do any work at that point.

Another question: When I check the checkbox for Chapter 1, for example, the checkboxes for Section 1 and Section 2 (which are nested sections within chapter 1) *do not* get checked. I infer from this that those sections would not be included in whatever I print / export. Is that correct?

I've tried highlighting the entire book before I open the print/export window, hoping that would cause all the checkboxes to be checked. Of course that's painful in itself (you should be able to press Ctrl-A to select all as in every other Windows program), and it doesn't work anyway.

Finally - a slight annoyance. There's no indication that printing or exporting has completed (at least that I noticed).

Are there any tips / tricks to making this work for me?

You are correct, you only get the sections that have a check-mark by them

I think you're using Print/Export as well as you can. It was requested during the Beta to automatically check nested sections but Logos didn't give us that... presumably to discourage wholesale printing of books.

Did you know you can right click on a chapter heading and select to check all sub sections in that chapter?

Well I used this technique to select all the chapters and sections in "The Divine Covenants". That worked reasonably well, though it was still ***way too slow*** responding after each checkbox was checked (what in the world is it doing???).

Unfortunately, when I exported to RTF, the output cut off in the middle of chapter 5 (the top of page 92), leaving the rest of that chapter, along with chapters 6, 7, and 8 unexported.

Does anyone know why that would happen and if there's a way for me to correct the problem?

Print/Export has a page limit of 100 pages, the next section in chapter 5 must have taken it past that limit.

This certainly seems like a very arbitrary decision, one I speculate is based on starting from a position of mistrusting their customers (like the whole L4 installation fiasco) vs. trusting them. It certainly doesn't stop someone from doing anything they could do if there were not a 100 page limit. It's just a lot harder.

It certainly is possible that the 100 page limit is designed to make it more difficult to print out a book in its entirety.

However, as you've noticed the more that you want to print, the longer it takes Logos to process. This is because the text of the book which was originally formatted to be displayed in a continuously scrolling fashion has to be paginated and laid out to be printed. The 100 page limit may simply be about not overwhelming computers.

It's possible (note that this is just speculation) that Logos' contracts with copyright holders prevents print function from being able to wholly duplicating a work.

My point is that while it seems like an arbitrary decision from the outside, there may be factors we are not privy to that makes it an entirely reasonable decision.

Your point about the copyright holders is fair, though a large percentage of the Logos resources is in the public domain. So copyright-based limits should be on a per-resource basis. Of course, if this is the case (copyright holders asking for concessions / limits), it's the typical corporate myopia, somewhat akin to the issues with the RIAA and digital music. It won't stop the malicious and punishes (if not violates the rights of) the honest.
