New Products/ eBooks

One of the things that I disliked about the old web site was having to search for web pages that seemingly had no links from any other pages, especially from the Home page. One of those pages was the new eBooks page: http://www.logos.com/ebooks/new

This is still a problem. My suggestion is to either make a link under the products page or when I click on the triangle in the upper left hand corner of the featured new eBook it will actually take me to the new eBooks page instead of just the featured book. If I just want to see the featured book, I simply click on the main picture.

I have a question about the word / phrase "ebooks". Are these somehow different than "normal" Logos books / resources? If not, why the different terminology (e.g. "ebooks" vs. "resources")? And why does TDNT show up as a new ebook in the link Rick provided above? If I go to the link http://www.logos.com/products/groups/list/ebooks , why are these resources organized so differently than the products are when I access them from the home page?

If so, how and why are they different? And why do ebooks seem to be treated as second class citizens (i.e. so difficult to find and browse).

Logos has used the term ebooks to apply to those resources which are downloadable (as opposed to only available on CD/DVD). The TDNT is just recently available as a downloadable product. Hence the "New" moniker.

Hi Donnie,

I can't speak for Logos, but for me personally, the term eBook is just a generic term that I use for any book that I can read in electronic format for any program whether it be Logos, Wordsearch, Kindle etc. If I caused confusion I apologize.

I think the way you use the term "ebook" is the way the term is generally used. You didn't cause any confusion. And while the confusion may be mine alone, it's caused by the fact that the term is used in some places on the site (even in the URL) but not everywhere / consistently (including in the L4 application itself).

Rick, thanks for the feedback and suggestion. Since the old site didn't have faceted browsing, it wasn't really very good at helping you browse and find products. Now that we do have faceted browsing, all of those all pages need to go away. There are many that still need to be redirected to their replacement on the new site. We'll be working on them as we discover them.

Your suggestion about linking the triangles to faceted searches for the particular category is a good one. We'll look into it. There is, however, an easy way to see new products. Hover on the Products tab and click "Browse All Products." Then simply select "Newest" from the Sort by dropdown. If you want to see only newest Live products and exclude Pre-Pub and Community Pricing titles, you can click the Live facet constraint under the Status facet in the sidebar.

Rick, these are old outdated pages that need to be redirected to new pages.

We've dropped the term ebook for the most part.
