Is there any way to search your user notes in Logos 4 for the Mac?
Thank you.
Results from your notes should show up in Basic Search.
Search in 'basic search' tells me the number of times the word occurs in user notes, but it doesn't show me where the word occurs in user notes. And since my user notes file is huge this is not practical.
Thank you,
Dennis
I'm having this same issue. I know there is a note somewhere in my note file because of the search results... but I have no idea where it is. Same thing happens when I click on a note attached to a verse. My note file opens up to the beginning of the note file... seems like in Logos 3 it would open up directly to that specific note in the note file.
This is making my converted notes almost unusable. I'm having to open Logos 3 in Parallels to see where the note is. Arg!
Hi
This was discussed recently in the Logos 4 forum - http://community.logos.com/forums/p/24135/179616.aspx - conclusion is that unfortunately at the moment there is no way to do this within the notes system itself.

I have Libronix and Logos for both my PC and MAC. I notice that both Libronix & LOGOS notes work correctly on the PC. Open a note from a bible text and it opens the note in the note file at the correct location, the referenced note file is opened to the correct location/note in the correct note file. It worked well under PC Libronix and in PC Logos 4, but MAC Libronix didn't get the note option, that I know of, mine never did and when it did come to MAC LOGOS 4 it has the issue we are speaking of here. I looked at your forum reference but that will only take me to the note file and not to my actual note reference location within the note file like the PC LOGOS does. Why is it that the LOGOS and Libronix on PC work but LOGOS on Mac does not?
Never mind to my post - I see that LOGOS 4 note sort nor opening a referenced note bug has not been worked out yet for a MAC. http://community.logos.com/forums/p/24148/182489.aspx#182489
I am new to Logos, I am on a MAC.
So what I am hearing is no use using Notes,, I I can't find them quickly they are of no use - to me anyway.
Also, would be nice to see the updates on the forum somewhere with the date.

I am not a great notes user but I don't think that you have got this quite right.
I seem to remember reading a post that explained that when notes were designed it wasn't really with the idea that people would have one huge note file.
It was really expected that you might have a note file for - say -each chapter in the bible or sermon text, or topic.
You would add to these many smaller note files as your carried out your studies.
This I understood would be easier on the computer memory and because results in note files are shown in Basic searches, functionally, equivalent to having a single huge note file.
Using this strategy (many smaller note files) means that the present shortcoming of the Mac release (not opening to the 'clicked on note') is much less of a problem because there are by definition fewer notes in the file.
This does not help those who have ported bible spanning note files into the Mac version from windows but it does allow those who are starting from scratch to begin with a better strategy.
Now somebody with real knowledge of notes will let you know where I have got things wrong. [:)]
I love the notes option, if you use the PC version, it works great large or small note file. PC version can sort within the file by reference and when you click on the note icon within the book texts it opens up right to the note file referenced. It is just a matter of getting the MAC version up to speed with the PC one. I was thinking the LOGOS 4 for MAC would be the same as PC - looks like they are trying to get there, just haven't reached equilibrium yet. [;)]
Ted, the notes are usable with the MAC - it is just that you will need to navigate to the particular note in the note file if you make a large note file. I still use my notes in MAC, but will be glad when they make the notes in MAC to work just like they do in PC.
