More issues with faceted browsing

Starting from the home page:

- Hover over "Products" and click "Product Home"

- In the "Status" facet, click "Live" - note that it says there are 4,512 resources of that type

- On the ensuing page, the breadcrumb confirms the 4,512 resources

Now look at the Product Type facet (click "More" to see all of the product types). If you add up the counts for the product types listed in that facet, the total is less than 500 - let alone 4,512.

My hyper-analytical mind expects that the sum of all of a facet's categories (in this case, all product types) should add up to the number of items currently being displayed. I could see the argument that if you had a large number of facet categories whose counts were very low compared to the total, displaying all of them would be impractical. But in this case, it's off by an order of magnitude.

What "product type(s)" are the other ~4,000 products?

Obviously not all the product types are included in that list. Above a bit are "Resource Types" Those don't add up to anywhere near the number of resources Logos has yet.

I suspect that there are a large number of resources that need to be tagged and/or the database updated for those lists to be complete.

However, if you look at the bottom of the product page, at 15 items per page there are 301 pages. 300 X 15 = 4500. So I'm guessing that 4512 is correct, though the column of options on the left is, as yet, incomplete.

And as I've already said, this is improving every day. I categorized over 400 resources (i.e. Logos books) on over 100 product pages (<-- that's what 4,512 actually refers to) today, where applicable for:

Bible & Apocrypha
Christian Group
Language
Product Type
Resource Type
Series / Set
Topic

This isn't information we can pull from metadata. It must be done manually.

Authors, Publishers, etc. can be retrieved from the resource itself, but someone has to do the rest one product page at a time.

So I should have interpreted your earlier comments (when I was asking about Resource Type) to mean that this kind of data had to be set for all facets, not just facets like Resource Type or Topic that roughly correspond to resource metadata.

That's correct. About half of the top level categories we were able to pull data from Logos resources and the rest we have to do manually.

Oh, its no problem at all--I hope I did not come across as talking down to you in my previous post. If so, I apologize.

With all these rather sudden changes, I want to help provide explanation.

Another piece of good news that I didn't mention before is that the 4500 pages I'm working through have been prioritized based what people are most interested in, so the collections and resources are being done first.
