I have about 6 books I use in offline mode.
I just updated the app, and now my library is empty. when I launch the app it gives me error that it can't find book in offline mode.
what happened?

On my iphone things are far worse. offline books are a no go and my library consists basically of only Bibles.

Lost all my downloads but logging off brought all my books back in the library.
I had the same thing happen to me. The upgrade has cost me (and many others I assume) countless hours of downloading and data usage (if your data plan is not unlimited). I would like to ask the developers to not write upgrades in such a way that downloaded books are lost in the future.
The suggestion just after your post worked for me. I signed off and signed on again under the "More" menu; the accessible books were again viewable under the library tab, but I lost the few downloaded books that I had left on my iPhone.
Very annoying. Is this going to happen with every new upgrade, I wonder?
In my experience, I have not lost any downloaded books, even when upgrading to a new version. The only time I lost anything is when I had to delete the app and then reinstall. I wish they had a way that itunes could back up your downloads, but at this point I don't think it is possible. I have downloaded about 90% of everything available for my library and have not had any losses yet. I have had some problems with the app, but no data losses...
