Latest update = no library and hang

I unlocked SBL Greek New Testament and after installing the update and resources, Logos now hangs. My default books open, but when I try to open the library it is blank and the program hangs. I can't do anything except force quit. Help!

I'll send logs when I figure out how to do that again.

Hi Brent,

You probably have a little blue Logos Icon at the top of your screen indicating that Logos is indexing. You have to wait for it to finish, the least disruption, the faster and better it will finish.

Hi John,

I thought it might be an indexing problem but I have no Logos icon showing as I have in the past. I'm thinking the indexing crashed and now I'm stuck with no library. Hopefully a fix will come soon as I really do not want to reinstall the entire program. I'm looking now for the manual command to reindex in the hope that this will force it to work. . .I'm not hopeful though. Thankfully, I still have a current copy running in Virtual Box so I'm not totally stuck.

Thanks Chris. Yes, I found the commands but unfortunately nothing happened when executed. It seems my indexer has crashed. It sometimes appears when I load Logos but quickly vanishes. I'm sure it is in the logs. Until I find a fix, I'm stuck using Virtual box for Logos 4. Bummer.

Indeed it has. It's crashing trying to discover a particular resource. This is something we can take a look at. Additionally, it looks like, at some point, you may have manually copied old resources into a subdirectory of the Logos 4 resources directory which isn't really desirable, since the app ends up trying to discover both but ultimately only uses one of them.

I've created a case for this issue and assigned to the developer who works on the Mac version of the indexer.

I'm going to look into this issue, but here's what you can do in the meantime:

1) Move the LLS_BOOKS folder out of /Users/brent/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/0ndkcth6.606/ResourceManager/Resources/. ResourceManager/Resources folder is managed entirely by Logos4 and it will handle moving things into that folder. Putting folders in there won't automatically discover the books and will probably just waste space on your drive as the resources will be copied into the ResourceManager/Resources folder.

2) Also, deleting all the .LSF files from your ResourceManager/Resources folder might get you up and running again. (Just make sure you have them in LLS_BOOKS, so you don't lose any data).

2) Can you give me a listing of the files you have in your LLS_BOOKS folder? One of them is causing a crash. I suspect it is the one right after gs_ecf3.lsf, but I need to know the name to test it and fix the problem.

3) Once we figure out what is causing the crash and get an updated fix shipped, you can safely put LLS_BOOKS folder onto your desktop and run "Scan /Users/brent/Desktop/LLS_BOOKS" once Logos 4 restarts to get any missing .LSF books into your library.

I have not learned the Mac/Unix console, so here is a directory listing from a windows command prompt (something I know how to use).

Both Mac and Windows use cd command to change directory. Windows uses dir command for directory listing while Mac uses ls command to list directory (suggest using ls -l command for list long format).

In contrast, Mac uses Unix convention of single / for root file system (allows Mac to boot from internal and external partitions - can mount partition as root - / - keeps path to files the same - other partition file systems are mounted in /Volumes).

The Mac Terminal Utility is similar to Windows command prompt (albeit Terminal has more flexibility than command prompt - WIndows has one command processor while Mac has many possibilities - shells - to process commands)

Would it be possible to zip up and email these files to macrequests@logos.com? You should also mention case "DevBug: 22338" in the message and I can try to take a look at why this is crashing.
