I-touch app not very friendly off-line

Hey guys,

I love logos on my computers (PC and MAC versions) , but on my I-touch it is not real friendly.... I have been using olive tree much more often because it is easier to use at church/sunday school.

probably the most difficult thing for me to figure out is how do I move back and forth? In sunday school and church, we often look up verses, then return to where we came from...and so forth. I can't find a 'back-forward' capability in logos app. (mostly forward I think)

Also, I may not have downloaded all the relevant books, but when off-line, isn't there a way to have the lookup functions work? I have strongs lexicon and concise dictionary downloaded...doesn't it know to look for local resources before requiring internet connection?

Next, I don't know if there is a problem with my I-touch alignment, or the bit-map for the screen-buttons, but when I am trying to do a verse look-up It most often activates the i (info button) instead. Since there is no 'alignment' feature in the touch, I'm guessing the bitmap may be slightly misaligned with the touch screen.

lastly, what is causing the app to dump my library after an update? this has happened several times in the past. do I have to download all my books again or is there a way to 'remind' the app what books are already downloaded?

The I-touch is a Chinese knockoff of the Apple iPod touch, this may be part of your problem.

I-touch was just my shortened way of saying Apple Ipod touch; I have the genuine article. I didn't even know there were knock-offs.

Also, LOGOS is the only app that seems to be off on its soft-button location. Olive tree has a very similar user interface, but doesn't exhibit the button location touch errors.

When you tap on the screen in READ mode there is an arrow on the lower line that has the book covers. It is the left most icon above the button bar below the text. That is a back arrow that takes you back to the previous spot. Don't think there is a way to go forward. <suggestion>Putting an arrow at the other end of that same toolbar would make sense.</suggestion>

You are right. I seldom do the verse look up, I just type. But if you are not pushing on the lower part of the Verse button it does activate the "I" button.

This is not normal. Others have complained about this, but I have not seen it. Sure you are, but have made sure that you are using the latest version? Tap the More button and then About. The version number is there.

You should be on 1.4.4, which is the latest version in the App store.

I have similar issues with Logos on my I-Touch iPod. These issues tempt me to try something different. Just thought I would let you know you are not alone.

Yes, 1.4.4, (41454), built thu oct 7, 14:37:20 2010...I found the back button, but I wasn't sure if there was a fwd or not. Thanks for confirming 'not', I can stop hunting for it.

I use an application by Olive Tree; it was free I think, or at least very minimal. It isn't nearly as robust as the LOGOS product, bit for offline use of a bible it works pretty good.

I have the same problems/issues with offline usage. I have downloaded many of my fovorite resources for use offline, but they won't even show the footnotes or verse reference from inside the same resource when I'm offline. I would think this should be possible. shouldn't the hyperlinks work at all? or is this just a bug? every hyperlink just says "not available".

I also get errors when simplly searching for a bible verse within the bible, I get a window pop up that says "Error loading book, Logos could not load the specified book" when I'm just searching for a verse inside of the bible I have open.

Please help, this can't be right.

Can replicate in offline use - first verse search gets error message - repeating search changes Bible resource to 1890 Darby Bible - while desired verse is displayed, tap iPad shows previous chapter for reference (e.g. John 1 on screen, but reference is Luke 24) - can click resource cover to switch back to desired Bible.

Observation: offline (airplane) library had 31 resources - 6 New Testaments, 11 Bibles, 2 Septuagint (Greek & English), and dozen others.

For grins, changed "1890 Darby Bible" so no longer available offline - however, verse search now displays in ASV always (with correct reference).

Appears Logos 4 on iPad uses first Bible alphabetically for verse searching - after verse found, can switch to other Bibles.

Able to repeat error book message - verse search: Joh 1 - error loading book - change search to John 1 - verse found in ASV - then can switch to other Bibles.
