Black Friday - Cyber Monday 2010

- Still thinking?
- No discount available on my picks?
- Email was lost, resend?
- Other?
Do you have to call to do that or can you set up a payment plan on the web site?
Jerry, I would state that in the email, either the initial one, or the one they send you with an offer. After I received the offer, then agreed to it, I got an email back with the items charged to my credit card.
I picked up 2 items that I missed out on with the pre-pub, and one that I wouldn't have gotten unless there was a sale... all said, for me it was about 23% of on all items ($54.00 savings), one of which is a CD that will be shipped to me.
I'm a happy camper! Thanks Logos guys!

The email detailing Logos' offer in response to my Black Friday selections contained these lines:
[quote]Thank you for your email. Please find below your special Black Friday special pricing. I am able to offer you the option to spread the payments out over multiple months.
Thanks Ralph and Jack for the reply. My request will no doubt be close to $1500 and was looking for a way to make it less painful. I didn't get my request in until late, so I am expecting a response sometime Monday. ( Albeit like a little boy on Christmas eve.)

I'm confused
There are two discussions going on. One: calling a sales rep. to get (perhaps) better prices than available on the web site pertains to normal purchases. Two: stating what you want in an email pertains to this sale. (Of course you can use the email approach instead of a phone call for normal sales business, too.)

Well I almost went for one of the offers on the Base Package upgrade from Scholars to Silver. Even sent the email, but after looking at it a little more, it was 10 - 20 dollars more than my normal Academic Pricing that I was quoted not long ago. So I wound up changing my mind.
Pretty good offer on one about 50% it was the lowest of my choices and I only really thought about buying it only at a crazy discount like 75% and the last offer was around 7% or $20 off.
1 good offer, 1 decent offer and the less than 10% offer. I appreciate the chance to get the offers, but right now will have to pass. The upgrade almost had me, and would have been a definite deal if it were $25 lower than my original Academic Pricing quote. Maybe like many others the "Black Friday" "Door Buster" and Cyber Monday crazy sales had my expectations a little unfair for Logos... Maybe we're all getting a little spoiled with the crazy pricing[:)]

So people are not calling a sales rep concerning the Black Friday sale?
I emailed my sales rep concerning the Black Friday sale, but would have been offered the same deals had I emailed sales@logos.com instead; it's just that I wanted to work with the same sales person who has helped me in the past. They are all on the same team and all offer the same discounts. Normally there's no difference between calling or emailing. But this particular sale offer was email only, so that they could guarantee people a reply if they got their email in by the deadline. I'm not sure if people have tried calling in about it, but I'm guessing the phones have been ringing off the hook and they'd prefer we not call during this busy time.
Welwyn Commentary seriesHi Richard,The 18 volume Wesleyan Bible Commentary is available. I have it and it is helpful.

You can get the New Testament commentaries significantly discounted today on wphonline.com.
From all the posts I've read it doesn't look like I'll get a very good discount.
That seems to depend upon what you ordered. I got 25% on one resource and no discount on the other two. Some posters mentioned much larger discounts.
Sent my BF/CM email @ 5:48 PM Friday. Still haven't heard a thing.
I think they had a skeleton staff working Saturday and were probably off yesterday. I got my order in at 8:46AM (EST) Friday and received a response 11:45AM (EST) Saturday. I think the volume of emails grew as Friday progressed. Hang in there, you should hear something today.

Surprising - I sent mine an hour earlier and did get mine (I think you said you were in CST). Not a good price, but did get a response. You might want to resend in case your message got lost in cyber space.

I sent mine in Friday morning at 10:26 AM, heard back Friday night, 9:28 PM.
Ordered Saturday, had resources downloading between then and now

... I emailed Logos at 2:15 PM Eastern time Friday and got my reply at 7:15 PM Eastern time this evening (Sat).
I just placed my order. I also added a few low-priced stragglers from my wish list. I'm excited to get a couple of new commentary series. Of course, I've first got the fun of tweaking my library information so I can track the items in this order.

My wish list was sent on friday, received an email with the price offerings on saturday, replied which one I would like to buy and today on monday I got an confirmation email of my order. The new resources are already downloaded and on this very moment indexing is on the move.
Super.
Thank you Logos!

Wow... sent mine 10:26am Friday, & STILL no answer. Not feeling optimistic...

Forum posts are acting really weird right now. My text is getting cut off when posted. Here goes another try:
I waited until almost midnight (Central Standard Time) to send my email. Imagine how horrified I was to see the url for my third choice appears to be corrupted somehow. Here is what showed in my email:
Baker Hermeneutics Collection (14 vols.) $329.95
http://www.logos.com/product/4492/baker-hermeneutics-collection/new-testament-st
udies-bundle
This url does not go to any product. I do not understand why this is what I ended up with considering I always cut & paste urls. Funny thing is when I look at the product page url, it does not have any text after the "hermeneutics-collection" part. Maybe I found an old product page that once offered the Hermeneutics collection & NT Studies collections in a bundle that has since been withdrawn. I am hoping it does not affect the validity of my quote request.

93 hours and counting...................
I sure hope they make you a wonderful offer!

Couldn't resist the offer on Mr. Cranfield's two volumes on Romans in the ICC. Wasn't as much off as I had hoped, but I have wanted them badly for some time now. I really have to cut back on books.

I think that for next year they should just go ahead and do a Black Friday with a 35% discount on all items and they won't have to worry about answering e-mails because everybody would get a coupon they can use ONCE (on one item or several items purchase) and I can guarantee you that they'll have more sales than any other day of the year, but this Black Friday was truly a mess...LOL...I guess they didn't realize all the trouble it would cause. I've read a lot of disappointed posts that it must be driving logos crazy. Me on the other hand, I couldn't get the deals I wanted, but hey, I still have 12 Days of Logos coming up (AGAIN...wow time sure flies!!!); so no worries, I'm sure I'll catch at least a deal or two. Last year the Commentary on the NT Use of the OT was very cheap, so I know that I will get a good deal during these coming 12 Days of Logos. I'm happy for what I've got and for what I'll be getting soon. Thanksgiving is over, but I'm thankful for Logos Bible Software and all of their staff. Special thanks to Mr. Jim (my favorite sales person), to Mr. Bob, Mr. Dan, Mr. Bryan, Mr. Guillermo, Mrs. Sarah, Mrs. Maggie, Mrs. Elsa...LOL...AND...the rest of the hard working crew at Logos. God bless you all!
Happy Holidays!
Douglas

Cranfield's Romans ICC are among the best Romans commentaries I've read in some time.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.
I actually want to give Logos a great shout-out and THANKS for the Black Friday special.
The posts on the forum have actually been more negative than positive due to some unexpectedly low discounts, delays in getting emails, etc. But I admire their thought about their customers, they could have done (a) nothing or (b) something easy or (c) something they have done in the past, but no - they tried to go out on a limb and try something new only because they thought it was in their customer's best interests. Bravo.
The "problem", if there is one, is that it was immensely popular. I know for a fact sales people were working Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday to process all the emails. I don't know how many of us would have willingly given up our whole Thanksgiving weekend for customers.
If you feel the samee way I do, I hope people could post some replies thanking Logos for their desire to help customers with this special. They tried to explain they could not give deep discounts on everything. Knowing Logos, I bet they gave the best discounts they could given their contracts with publishers.
If most of what they hear is that the discounts weren't good enough and the replies didn't come fast enough, so be it - I am sure they are well-experienced with the collective psyche of a customer base. I just thank them for trying to help us out as much as they did, and even if it wasn't perfect in customers' eyes, I hope this doesn't paralyze them from going to bat for us in the future. I think their efforts are greatly appreciated.
Wow, what a weekend... we are just now getting caught up to emails received at 8:43 am Monday morning. We still have a lot of work to do, but our sales reps have been working like crazy on this and are getting faster with each email they do! Hang on a little longer if you haven't seen your reply yet, we're almost through!
Dan, I like wise sent mine in a few days back. I do not mind waiting. But if lost, can I resubmit it again?
My Blog: Theological Musings
Kind of strange that Dan would say they are catching up with emails from Monday morning when several just in this thread put their requests in Friday?
Oh please let not my request be negated some how!
Ditto, mine was out Friday night. I'm not worried about it though. I know that if they say "we're all done" and mine wasn't responded to they'll make good on it.
EDIT: Just checked my spam with yahoo mail and sure enough my reply was in there.
Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Cloud Nine Tuesday. I got NICNT/NICNT, Word Biblical Comm., Comm. on the N.T. Use of the O.T. AND Catena Aurea all in one day!

Hi Dan,
Like others, I emailed at 10:26am on Black Friday but still haven't heard anything. Should I conclude:
Regardless of whether I'm able to take advantage of the sale, thanks!

I sent my email at 11:57 pm Monday night. I got my quotes this evening. I am guessing there is a hamster-driven roulette wheel that determines the % of discounts [:D]
My cheapest choice had a HUGE discount of 40%!
My next higher priced choice was offered at 14% discount. Not bad but not good enough to go for it.
My highest priced choice had less than a 1% discount!
At least all three offered a savings.

I submitted my request on Monday and had an answer in less than 24 hours. I've been a user of Logos/Libronix for more than a decade that I can remember. One thing I constantly let friends and Logos reps at conferences is that this company is absolutely the best thing out there. Customer support has always been a top priority and the personal phone calls and emails that I have received over the years continues to confirm this fact. My only cunundrum is whether or not I should take advantage of the Christian History/Biography Magazine collection price or not. Thanks again Logos.
Blessings from Maine,
Don
