What I want to do with prayer lists

I'll admit up front that I know I'm not using prayer lists quite as they were intended. However, the way they are apparently intended to be used is foreign to my prayer life. So I've adapted them to be quite useful. I am currently loading a set of Orthodox Christian Quotes to pop-up as "prayers". (see http://theodorakis.net/orthodoxquotescomplete.html) This means I would like to be able to:

  • assign an item to a single day and have it show up on that day (reported as a bug)
  • be able to put personal reflections on the quotations in the answer box without it affecting the status of the "prayer"
  • have Bible links within the prayer (also needed for my devotional style prayers)
  • be able to share the prayer file with others
  • less urgently, permit the linking to other resources (in the case mainly early church fathers)
  • have prayers searchable, especially for bible references (and tags)
  • bonus feature (not essential): be able to request the system provide me a random prayer each day ... I'd even add petitionary/intercessory prayers if it had this feature [:)]
  • not for me but ... with some of the discussions of privacy laws around the world, the ability to label a prayer file as omitted from backup and syncing could be useful. Besides, this would insulate Logos from potential liability.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Dittos on bullets 2, 3, and 4.  I may have been the first to request upgrading the Prayer List feature in L4 when it was enabled for enhanced capabilities.  I have more than one prayer list, e.g., Personal, Missionaries, and Sunday School Class, and wish to update various items in each one in the Answer column.  However, entering anything in the Answer column changes the status of the whole list, which turns off the recurrent cycle of the prayer list.  I would like the option to change the status myself.  The Bible links is a great idea to go with a prayer list as a whole or individual items in a list.  Finally, it would be nice to have an email feature within a prayer list.  Currently, I have to copy and paste into an email message and do it one column at a time.   Therefore, the "answer" or status is a separate list and not aligned with the need.

I don't see Logos making these changes anytime soon as it is probably not high on the priority list.  The fix for the disappearing list when hovering was noted early on and is not modified yet.  I am thankful for at least having the Prayer List feature at all.  If enough users ask for a certain modification, it should bump it up on the priority list if modifying the code is not too difficult.  Obviously, the highest priorities are bug fixes and adding promised features to L4.

That may be true - on the other hand, once a few major items are off the user voice we'll be able to see what support exists for this list. I'm more concerned with PBB's and lectionaries at the moment but this will hit my "pressure Logos" list once some other prayer-related issues fall into place.

It seems we are still waiting for most of this functionality.  Let's keep the pressure on Logos to elevate these suggestions to getting them done.  It's been several months since I revisited this issue.  Logos has added the functions of hovering and light grey partial details.  The first is an improvement it promised.  But your list is much more significant and useful in my opinion.  I would mostly like to see work done on bullets 2 and 3 in your list.
