Logos for iOS 1.6.0 Release Notes
Logos for iPhone 1.6.0 Release Notes
New
- View two books at once and synchronize them on references
- Headers and footers for displaying the current book title, reference and page number
- Sepia and low light color options
Improved
- Faster startup
- ASV included so there’s always a Bible, even when offline
- Reading plan readings can be marked read when offline
- Better font support
Fixed
- Crashes after prolonged use
Known Issues
- If you had downloaded a book with a release before 1.5.0 and did not update it with 1.5.x, 1.6.0 will crash when it loads the book. To work around this, update all downloaded books. If the app crashes immediately on startup, you can delete the app and download it again, but doing so will delete any books you have downloaded.

Down the bottom right of the screen there is a small arrow. Click it and it will split the screen. Then touch the top or bottom screen to change resource. You can also customise how much of either resource you see by dragging the arrows on the right that sit between resources.
Very cool!

This is a great release. Congratulations! The split window is elegantly and simply implemented, and the header and footer are great additions. The background colors are wonderful too.
Some suggestions for consideration:
1) Add the option to choose linking mode between the two windows: a) Top/Left window leading Bottom/Right window; or b) Either window leading the other (as it is now); or c) No linking between the two windows.
2) Add an on-screen button (e.g. somewhere on the split line between the two windows) to toggle between the above 3 options.
3) Make "Settings" easier to access: either a) Make "More" a pop-up menu instead of a full-screen menu; or better yet b) Make the last button "Settings" instead of "More" -- "About" can be an option within "Settings".
Thanks!
Peter
Couple quick requests (I know, I know, we are never satisfied [:D])
Is it possible for the split views to host the other display items (library, text compare, passage guide, etc.)? The reason for this is that it is nice to be able to keep the text up and continue reading while other information is retrieved from the servers. It doesn't have to work for pop ups but on press of the tab it would be nice if that content loaded into the active screen from the split view.
Can we get the color settings to be system wide? This may be difficult if some of the content is actually rendered server side vs. just having the data crunched but it would make the app a whole lot more cohesive.
Again, nice work and I understand that everyone has their favorite list of features. The split screen was number one for me after local resources so thanks again!
I have been using 1.6.x now for several days, and in fact in both of the past two Sunday's for bible class. I had the ESV and The Greek up at the same time and they were linked... that was very nice, and was big help, in fact, once I downloaded the Greek to my phone there was 0 lag as I went from page to page. I really wanted to say something to all of you, but that was not an option, but I am sure glad that everyone has this now! All That I can say is Well Done Dave and Team. Thank you.
Thanks for all the hard work!! this update was well worth the wait.

Very nice update to the ipod touch when wireless. Do some of these functions like the double screen work in offline mode?? We had a snow storm today, so I won't know until I leave my home tomorrow to check it out.
Pertaining to offline status, which is what I have outside of home (when not wrireless). Can anyone update me as to exactly what functions work when in offline mode? Seems to me it 's a much more manual operation then, having to flip to one book, but not being able to flip back and forth to multiple books. Obviously, th passage, text comparison guide etc don't work.
As for you techies, are there some things that work well when in offline mode?
Next questions. I have most of my logos 4 books in my touch now. The ones I can't get to add to offline mode are the ones that say Logos research. They won't load over to offline mode, even though the button says they will, I've tried several times.
Thansk for the help, Kayte
Split screen does work offline as long as your books are downloaded for offline use.

Great app! [:D]
I got the split screen. How do I change it back to single screen? [:S]

Kaye,
I can drag the pane divider over to the right or left but not enough to make the secondary screen totally disappear. I'm not exactly sure how I got it up but haven't been able to totally erase it as of yet. I am at work on lunch confident I will eventually get it but not yet.

Don,
I am using an iPad. If you have the iPod Touch/iPhone it might be a little different. It's a little messy but I can get it to go back where it came from by sliding.

Gary,
Not that I know of. I only know how to do pages on the iPad. I have to say, though, I was scrolling in Logos on my laptop so much that for a while I started having trouble reading print. My eyes got used to staying in one place while the text moved by, instead of the opposite. Now I only page and my reading muscles have almost gone back to normal.

I do have a small glitch that you might be able to assist with. I have one of the large packages and have the ASV hidden. That means it is not available to my phone. Now every time I open the app on my iPhone I get an indication that there is 1 resource to update. It shows the ASV but then I get a blue pop-up that says unable to download ASV. It just keeps coming back. Is there any other way to stop this than to un-hide ASV on the laptop version?

For now the only way to keep ASV from trying to update is to unhide it. We'll try to get that fixed in the near future.
This is a great update. Well done to Dave and the team.
I am sure this is on you radar, but it would be nice when a commentary is selected from the passage guide for it to open in the secondary window and not the primary window.
It's looking great.

Love the update - but have a question about updates in general - why is it that whenever there's an update, i lose the books i marked for offline reading (ie i have to re-download them again)? is this normal? thanks.
Using iTunes (on iMac) to upgrade iPad application, update from 1.5.2 to 1.6.0 kept offline Logos resources - did not need to sign out and sign in.
Personally still unable to offline 1000 Bible Images - downloads about half hour - then Logos app disappears from screen.
Keep Smiling [:)]
Great ujpdate! Thanks.
Would love to see ability to zoom, preferably by "pinching" or spreading fingers, just as most iPad / iPhone apps do. Maps and other graphics and pictures would be greatly improved if it was simple to zoom in and out.

This is a great update! Thanks Logos iOS team!
Jerry - I have the same issue as you, I always have to redownload my offline books. I update through the app store via iTunes.
