What is expected of someone that has 'expressed interest' in CP and Pre-Pub titles?…

If a CP title comes in at, or under, my bid price, am I obligated to then follow through with the purchase. IOW, have I contractually obligate myself to purchasing that title? Same for Pre-Pubs, if I click on the pre-order button, again, am I obligated to purchase with that click of the mouse? The reason I ask is that I have many titles selected in what I, myself, would consider to be 'wish list' mode. I see language saying Under Contract in the status column of the orders page. I'd feel more comfortable with 'wish list' language than Under Contract language. How is this expected to work exactly?

Logos understands that you may cancel any order at any time.

However, it really doesn't help them determine whether or not a book's costs are covered if people do this regularly. So it's best to only bid on CP's you intend to buy.

Granted some can take a long time, but this shouldn't be seen as a wish list, either. Logos doesn't have one (yet).

On the other hand, if you do want to buy, CP is usually the way to get the best deal. Sometimes, it's worth sacrificing something else to make it work.

"Under Contract" means Logos is working under a contract with the publisher to produce the book in Logos format, now that enough people have placed an order for it. It does not mean you are contractually (or even morally) obligated to buy it. But if the CP goes through at below the price you bid on it, and you don't cancel your order before the ship date, then your credit card will automatically be charged when it ships.

You'll get an email a few days before ship date asking you to verify your credit card info, which is your last chance to cancel if you decide you don't want the book after all. But generally when you place the CP bid or pre-pub order, it's because you fully do intend to buy it.

Sometimes Logos has not been as good at pacing the shipment of pre-pubs and they load up a whole bunch in one month and people have to rush to cancel their orders because they can't afford so many of them at a time. One time when that happened Logos graciously allowed people to hold onto their pre-pub prices for another couple of months or so, in order to space out the purchases better. But normally if you cancel a pre-pub order before it ships and then want to change your mind after it ships, it's too late. You're stuck with the new higher price.

Sometimes also pre-pub prices go up incrementally during the pre-pub period, so the earlier you place your order, the lower a price you'll be able to lock in. Again, if you cancel your pre-pub order during that time and then order it again before it ships, you'll lose the lower price you'd locked in earlier.
