Synchronizing Logos 4 - With Resouces that's OK - But What About Separate Display Options?

Hi There,

I've searched for this on the Logos Forum and I was not able to find a previous thread.

I am between computers at the moment. I am moving my Logos 4 library over to my "new" computer because Logos 4 runs much faster on it. In the meantime, I still have Logos 4 on my old computer.

I open Logos 4 to the Home Page on both computers and because of the speed difference between the computers and different monitor resolutions, I want to have more features available on the Home Page on the "new" computer than on the old one.

However, because of the synchronization, any changes I make on either computer are reflected on the other automatically. This is fine for my Resources because I want to be sure that I have all of my Resources available across all devices (if I had an iPhone for example), but how do I keep a separate set of display options say, for a laptop and for a desktop? (Because eventually I will uninstall Logos 4 from my old computer and only have it on my "new" computer.)

I have a laptop, but it is slower than my old computer, so I probably won't be using Logos 4 on my laptop. But if I did, how would I be able to maintain separate options / parameters for each (based on hardware differences), instead of them both looking exactly alike?

Sync is all or nothing - can change program settings "Use Internet" to No - disables all synchronization (reading plans, resource locations, named layouts, ...) along with disabling Home Page content updating from internet (can press F5 on Home Page to refresh) - allows different computers to have different settings. With internet off, can use command Update Now to update Logos 4 program and resources.

Certain settings are local to the computer (I forget which!). But save a layout with a different name for each computer else you will notice the different resolutions.

Thank you so much for the suggestion to use Logos 4 without an Internet connection.

Another thing that I could do that I just thought of, would be to have Logos 4 start up on the slow computer with no Home Page.

I noticed in some of the other threads that I've read on the Logos Forum that when people were measuring the "start up" speed of Logos 4, some folks turned off the Home Page so that Logos 4 started faster.

Having a "Layout" saved for each computer is a great idea. Is there any way to have Logos 4 boot up in a specific layout? That would be the best scenario.

In the "Customize" tab on the bottom left, I only see the option to open with the Home Page or to disable that option. I didn't see anything about starting with a specific Layout selected. That would be great.

I should say that I checked the Wiki and it didn't quite answer this question.

In my Layout/Workspace ...

Get to my Layout from the Homepage

• If you are in the Home page and just want to view the
workspace/Layout, then click on the house icon. It will take your from
the Home page to your Layout view.

• If you want the your layout/workspace to show when you open Logos4, then see this wiki page How do you delete a named Layout?

When I clicked on "How do you delete a named Layout?" - I never got anywhere!

Is there any way to have Logos 4 boot up in a specific layout?

If you disable show homepage at startup, L4 will open with the last layout successfully used. I say successfully used because a crash will cause L4 to open in a previously used layout. Unfortunately, L4 does not allow you to specify a default layout.
