Which Logos 4 to buy?

I have a Mac 2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. I'm a preacher, teacher,Trinity doctoral student and also teach Bible Study. Many of you seem to own the Gold software. Is the Platinum any better or worth the money? Or is Silver a good buy? I want to get something I won't be sorry for since I'm able to make monthly payments. Thanks for any advice. Henry.

Hello, welcome to the forums. I started with the Leaders edition but have quickly upgraded to the Silver, and now Platinum. I do not think you can go wrong with Platinum, but that is me.

A friend of mine bought Platinum first and did not see the value of the software right away so he regretted spending that much and ended up returning it. I think if you learn the value of the software you see the value of the bigger libraries......

So I guess you can start small learn the software and drool over the larger packages later or go big right away and grow into it.....

Regardless take your time learning it, the more you put in the more you get out......

As a doctoral student, you'll qualify for the academic discount (http://www.logos.com/academic/program) so make sure you ask for that. The most important differences I see would be:

From Silver to Gold
- NIGTC commentaries
- Hebrew-English interlinear
- The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament in English
- The Context of Scripture
- Metzger's Textual Commentary
- EDNT
From Gold to Platinum
- Pillar commentaries
- AW Pink Collection
- Berkouwer's Dogmatics

So, you'll need to do the Math, and work out if those resources (or whatever else you'll value) will be worth the extra.

<edit>I forgot to add that you can upgrade later for roughly the price difference between the various packages, so that remains an option if you're not sure.</edit>

If financially feasible, I'd vote for Platinum. I took a more circuitous upgrade route (silver-->gold-->platinum), but I'm happy with what I have now. You should definitely look into the academic discounts as well.

When I went to L4 I purchased Scholar since I had many print references. I then realized how Logos is designed to leverage exegetical tools. So I upgraded to Platinum. It's more than worth it. It really is a bargain.

I would recommend Platinum. I think it has the best deal. The more I use it the more it becomes useful to me.
