Is there any way that I could buy "show them no mercy" without buying a $200+ collection?
I've tried to convince my wife but it isn't working but I really need this book for a study I am doing with my young adult group.

You don't have to buy the $200 collection; you can buy the $900 collection instead. [:D] Seriously, I completely understand and sympathize. I've noticed a tendency lately to offer large, expensive collections when all you may want is one or two items from the collection. I assume there's a business reason, and Logos is a business and needs to operate as one if they wish to remain in business.
As far as I can tell from the Logos web site, this isn't possible -- yet. Sometimes publishers do allow collections to be broken up so that individual resources can be purchased separately. This may yet happen with this collection, but that's probably Zondervan's call (not Logos').
If you want to be extra sure you could always call the 800 number on the Logos web page and ask for sales, or email sales at sales [dot] logos (dot) com.
This book does benefit from being in Logos format, because of all the Scripture references, but if you absolutely need it and can't afford the $200, you can get the Kindle edition for $9.99 and if you don't have a Kindle you can read it on your PC or Mac using the free Kindle for PC or Kindle for Mac software. Then you'd just have to manually look up the Scripture references in Logos if you wanted to check them. Bit of a pain, but perhaps worth $190 to you.
Rosie, I have a question about the Kindle price - is it exactly $9.99? - when I look up the book on my computer the price is $13.79 (almost 40% more) - but this may be due to the fact that I'm situated in Europe which means that they will show me another price - incl. all kinds of taxes ....One of the great things about LOGOS resources is that you pay the same price whether you're in Europe or in US. I really hope this will go on!
Oh, I didn't realize you were in Europe. I'm not even sure Kindle books are available there. They've only just become available for the Canadian market, and I'm not sure they all are available (this one does not show up on amazon.ca and I can't recall if we can download ones from amazon.com from here in Canada).
This is what I'm seeing (on amazon.com, not amazon.ca, and the price is in US $):
That's annoying that they'd charge you more for the same digital content if you live somewhere else. I can see that for physical books, because the shipping costs would be more. But all the taxes and stuff. Yeeeeeeshh!!! I guess there are moves underway to try to collect taxes on digital content sold from another country but it's not universally done or enforced. It's hard to implement as it's not always easy to tell where a customer is from when they are ordering online (they can mask their location using proxies). I too hope Logos continues to be able to sell the way it does without charging taxes. If it does ever have to, you can blame the EU for its VAT laws.
There is some discussion of this issue here: http://itlaw.wikia.com/wiki/VAT_on_E-Commerce_Directiveand here: http://www.ibls.com/internet_law_news_portal_view.aspx?s=latestnews&id=1925
Rosie:
I don't think of New York as being a foreign country, but here is what I get when I do a search for Show Them No Mercy. :
I don't think of New York as being a foreign country...
That's strange. Could it be because Washington State (where Amazon.com is located) has no sales tax but New York does? Do they have to charge you more because you're from New York? But then it would make no sense that I could get it for $9.99 from Canada, because we have GST up here.
Thanks for the links. I'm aware of the situation. It might change sooner than you would like to think. 35-40% on top on let's say 'Anchor Yale Bible' might put it almost out of reach. So the advice to myself and other EU-citizens must be not to dream too many years about larger purchases before going into action.(It is a small comfort though that it almost as much in NY)
It does mention the VAT

Could be - but it is not 30.3%. Here in upstate NY it is 8.5% - so it does not explain all the difference.

Hmm, maybe he's been playing around with the currency setting and the price is being displayed in NZ dollars then. That would make it about 30% more than USD. [;)]
You did realize that the 30.3% figure I quoted was the apparent tax on my NY purchase. The NZ price would have been even greater.

If the tax is that high in NY, I would move.

Of course that is the point - it is not that high, so the tax does not account for the difference in price between what Rosie is seeing and what I am seeing. From what Rosie says, it does account for the difference in price for a New Zealander.

I'd still probably move -- especially if it were NYC with its nanny mayor Bloomberg. Pass the salt.
Yes, I realized that. You said the 30.3% difference couldn't be accounted for by tax because the tax isn't that high in NY. So I said that maybe instead of the higher price in NY being due to taxes, the (NY) viewer was (accidentally) looking at the price in NZ dollars. Yes, I know it would have been more like 33% higher. But it's all approximate. I was only joking. I don't think users can look at prices in another currency unless they have a credit card in that currency anyway.
It's not - Niagara Falls is just down the road - a long road, but far closer than NYC. I would like to visit NYC at some point, but Niagara is far more inviting.

Agreed. Shuffle off to Buffalo.
I debated posting this since it's so off topic but...
I've read that Kindle books outside the US have the delivery costs via 3G included in the price.
