Smart Tags in Excel document

I am new to this, and I have searched for a discussion that addresses my question and have not found it. No doubt, someone will say, "We've discussed that before..." and if so, just kindly direct me accordingly;
I have a huge Excel file in which, for years, I have entered biblical references topically, as I have found them. What I have are thousands of references in a spreadsheet. This is much more effective for me than something like Nave's Topical Bible. But, I'd love to find some way to have all those references "hot-keyed' to a pop-up window of the text.
Can this be done? (Please be aware, I am NOT a computer programmer, and the word "code" for me is code-word for: you're in over your head)

what version of excel are you using? 2003, 2007, or 2010?

I know smart tags work in 2010, not sure about 2007 but I would think so.click on the button in the upper left corner, then Options>proofing>auto complete. Make sure their is a check next to the Logos box. Once that is done you may need to close down excel and reopen it. I'm not sure how L4 indicates that a box is a smarttag. I think a little box appears when you hover over a cell with a verse in it (I'm assuming the verse isI the only thing in the cell.) You might have to right click to get an option for the smart tag.

In Excel 2007, there is no auto-complete option under proofing. Perhaps that is something only in 2010. Also, I am using L3, not L4 (I know, I'm way behind the times). Is this something I need to upgrade to L4 and Excel 2010 in order to use?

Ah, L3 is different. http://www.logos.com/articleviewer/530seems to indicate that smart tags now require L4. Even if you go through their L3 support page the smart tag link sends you to the above link. I think that means that unless someone can send you the old smart tag installation file you might be out of luck without switching to L4.The good news is smart tags not only work with 2007, but they work better then in 2010. At least, that's my opinion. So no, you do not need to upgrade to excel 2010. If you choose to take the L4 plunge we are here to help you with any questions you might have!

Philip,
Super-helpful. I see how smart tags must happen, now I just need to figure out if I can make them work with L3 without upgrading. Again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I think this is a link spam post with the text stolen from the OP and have reported this thread.
Have joy in the Lord!
