I have four computers in the house on a network. Can I install Logos 4 on an NAS drive so that I can run Logos on all four computers, but have the data on the NAS drive, meaning updates would only have to be installed and indexed on one drive?
I don't see why you couldn't do this as long as the NAS drive was mapped and you did a custom install to that drive. However, I don't know what voodoo you would have to do to get all the computers to work with it. You'd probably have to do some unsupported registry hacking to get it to work.
However, I wouldn't want to introduce the data bottleneck of going over a network. I suspect that would render Logos very slooooooow.
You can use the Quick installation method to transfer indexes between computers..
EDIT: Sorry, I should have refreshed the page before posting, didn't realize Kevin beat me to it.
In theory this would be possible by mounting and mapping the remote nas drive to Logos4 installation directory.
HOWEVER....
No. Or rather, I doubt it.
Even if you're running gigabit networking straight from the NAS to the computers, L4 would crawl as it repeatedly makes disk calls for data.
The amount of data transferred would make the process excruciating.
Then there are the registry values, which would have to be tailored very carefully to match each system's file system mappings.
There's a really geeky part of me that wants to try, but I'm reticent because my own hardwired 10/100 network wouldn't make it sustainable.
What you may want to do instead is setup your NAS to serve as a caching proxy server and route Logos through it. Then when computer (A) initiates the update all of the data is cached in the proxy server so that when computers (B),(C),(D) initiate their update calls they're only downloading from the NAS instead of Logos.
I've not played too much with proxy servers, perhaps Squid or another opensource alternative might get you there for free.
If you want to go ahead with either option (nas install or proxy server) I would still suggest you take a look a the steps for installing on multiple computers:

Thanks, Kevin and Thomas. I will check out the link for "Quick Installation onto multiple computers."
