Logos 4.0 and PBB's

Will Logos 4 read current PBB's?
I'm still waiting for the download ( for some reason the Logos servers seem a little taxed ), but my PBB's don't show up yet.
Thanks

No, L4 does not read current PBB's. Bob says that this is because PBB's are tied too much into Internet Explorer. He has also said that there will be a future PBB product which will turn them into regular Logos books.

How terribly sad...
Instant loss of 850 resources...

Peace and joy to you, Paul.
Not a loss, Paul! *smile* You can keep running Logos 3.0f as long as you desire. Right now I have both 4.0 and 3.0f running. It's great!
Not a loss... only a delay until your PBB resources are available on the new engine.

I signed into my account and clicked on the upgrade to Logos 4. The screen that pop-up indicated that it would cost me $2,325.04 to upgrade to Logos 4. I have spent thousands of dollars with Logos buying resources during the last four years with the understanding that once I bought a book I would never have to buy it again when Logos upgraded the search engine. Now it looks like I will have to repurchase all of these resources again to use them with Logos 4.
I have a standing order in my Pre-pub account of about $800. I am getting ready to cancel all of these orders and make a commitment to never buy another Logos product again! I’m just waiting to talk with a live person at Logos to make sure that the upgrade to Logos 4 page was correct. I’ve tried seven times to talk with someone at Logos but the lines are busy.

William, did you go to the products page, click on the "Upgrade" box. That will give you the difference in price to upgrade to various packages based on what licenses you already have. There is also a "minimal upgrade" link on the far right that just upgrades the engine and a few resources that are integrated into the version 4. If you don't own a package, they'll really want you to at least buy the base package, it seems. But, if you have a package and the "Upgrade" doesn't give you some much less expensive options, then make sure you are Logged in and try again. If still no better deal, then you'll have to talk to someone at Logos. I suspect what your seeing is the maximum upgrade to the new "Portfolio" level which is thousands for pretty well everyone. There is also a new Platinum. The upgrade from Gold to Platinum seems to be in the range of $200-$300, depending on what licenses you have. There is also what is called a "crossgrade" which means you enhance your current level (Gold to Gold or Silver to Silver) to take advantage of the v4 features.

That's just the price for a recommended update to a large collection of new resources.
You can choose from a variety of options, including just getting the engine for free. We don't recommend that, because it doesn't have even the basic set of resources that really make Logos 4 shine. But you can get those for as little as $70; see http://www.logos.com/minimalcrossgrade
Sorry for the confusion!

...and you gain just with the crossgrade for ex. from the Scholar Gold v3 to Scholar Gold v4 (LE) about 180 new resources. It looks a good deal to me.

Good point, Bohuslav! Extra value for minimal cost. There are some valuable resources in those 180 or so.

Take a deep breath and make sure you know what you are looking at before you go off half-cocked. Logos is busy because they are busy. It is not a personal thing against you brother.WilliamEGordonJr said:I have a standing order in my Pre-pub account of about $800. While frustrating for many, it's good for all that Logos does well today and going forward.Joe Miller said:Logos is busy because they are busy.

You do not have to buy any resources you already have again. You still have your resources. The engine upgrade is free. The upgrade pricing is for resources you do not already own. The confusion might be that the base packages for Logos 4 include more resources than the same package in 3. If you want to get the extra resources you have to pay for them. That is not unreasonable is it? If you do not want the extra resources then install the engine. You are not out anything. I think if you will stop for a minute and re-evaluate the situation, you will realize you are not being cheated.
As far as talking to someone at logos, I would not blame them if they did not answer any phone calls for a couple of days. They have been working overtime for weeks trying to get the new release out and have sacrificed sleep and taken feedback and criticism in the forums in order to get it up to speed. Now that it is out, everyone wants to get all tense.

Hello Mel
I'm so pleased to see that you have both versions running. Do you have both versions running on the same computer? It would be my dream set-up until I've familiarized myself with Logos 4 , as it's taken me a whole year to finally perfectly set up - and get my head around my Logos 3, which is why I've only got the upgrade in my shopping cart at the moment!
I'm clearly a slow learner who would greatly appreciate any help in this area!!

I'm not Mel but I wanted to give you the assurance that, yes, you can run both L3 and L4 on the same computer They will not conflict. I am running both and will continue to do so for some time until L4 has more functions up and running that I am used to in L3. Check out the videos; I am finding them really helpful.
