Installing Libronix on a Netbook

I am a long time Logos user (since v.2). I have both Libronix and Logos 4 installed on my Desktop (Windows XP). I have recently purchased a netbook. It is not powerful enough for Logos 4, but I think might handle Libronix. Is there a way to install Libronix "on-line" a la Logos 4 style? If not can someone give me detailed steps to installing/duplicating my setup on my Netbook? The Netbook doesn't have a cd/dvb drive, which is the major problem.

Thanks

James

You can install from the internet here: http://www.logos.com/support/downloads/ldls

Getting resources is a little more difficult and piecemeal. The easiest way would be to copy a Libronix Resource folder onto a USB drive and transfer them that way. If you have an L4 base package you can find links to download scripts at the bottom of this page http://www.logos.com/product/8775/logos-bible-software-3-media-only-kf-dvd-rom

For the remainder you'll have to look through your order history to find download links.

Are you sure? I run Logos4 on my netbook with only minor annoyance at times due to performance, but overall it is a pleasurable experience so long as I minimize my use of auto-generating reports (like information and power lookup).

It is very nice to have all your stuff synced from your netbook to your main computer.  I almost use my netbook more than my main computer because of the ease of reading and taking notes on it. My desktop I may use more for studies that require a lot of reports and a lot of resource opening and closing (Exegetical guide etc), but when I am reading large chunks of resources, taking simple notes, and highlighting.

If you have Libronix 3 on your desktop, installing Libronix on a netbook is fairly easy. You download the software as Kevin indicated to a USB drive, and then copy it over to your netbook and install it.

Then, since you already have Libronix on your XP desktop, you backup your licenses from within your desktop Libronix to your USB drive, and restore them on your netbook (also  from within Libronix).  Hopefully you routinely backup your L3 licenses.

Lastly, you copy your desktop resources from c:\program files\Libronix DLS\Resources to your USB drive, and then copy them onto your netbook in the same directory (assuming the same drive).

If you also want your various 'stuff' from your desktop Libronix, it's usually located at c:\documents and settings\your-PC-id\my documents\Libronix DLS\ with multiple folders to copy over into the same directory on your netbook (either XP or W7).

Lastly re-start Libronix and let it re-read you library resources.

I do this, keeping an off-line Libronix 3 up to date, about every 2-3 weeks from my on-line Libronix 3 (both netbooks). I also run Logos4 on my on-line netbook too, which is a little slow but quite workable.

James, I can assure you that it runs on a net book.

I bought a New (Old) HP Netbook just a few months ago.

Runs fine, I like the syn between the NetBook and the DeskTop.

Both of my run on XP, in fact I have libronix and Logos 4 running on them both.

I had to down load the entire thing through my wireless conection.

Took a long time, but that´s life.

Say, you can find a cheap external DVD drive for your Netbook (Tiger Direct or some other company).

For the first few months of L4 (while it was still missing some functionality I needed) I kept Libronix on my netbook. If you have Libronix on a desktop set up windows live mesh (mesh.live.com) to keep your resources folder (C:/Program Files/Libronix DLS/Resources) in sync as well as your Libronix folder in My Documents. This will serve to keep your notes, highlights, resources, and other personal files up to date. It will also copy all of your files from your desktop over to your netbook without the need for dvd drives. You will then just need to sync your licenses.

But again, I would encourage you to play with L4 on your netbook.
