Probably this is a non-english UI issue.
When I click "Add book" in the PBB module I'm getting this dialog:
I think there should be a default language in this dialogue or maybe just the word "Language" as in "Add field".

What happens if you click on the small down-arrow underneath the first "n" in "Monografi"?
That is where the language dropdown appears in the English UI.
It may be operational but without a label.

It is operational but I think it would be more intuitive than just a small down-arrow. A label is needed.

Not sure if you have seen this in the English UI - and I wasn't clear in my response earlier - but there is a label in the English UI version as below:
So, as you said at the beginning [:)], it is most likely a non-English UI issue!
Thank you for pointing this out and providing a screenshot. I think this is occurring because the Swedish language option is missing in the tool. Since you have the Swedish UI, it would by default have Svenska selected when you add a book, but it's not there to select so it is left blank. I'll add this info to the bug case on the missing language.
