Delay when typing notes in 4.3 B8

The 4.3 B8 release notes refer to:

"Improved responsiveness of notes UI while sync is uploading."

I still see a lag when typing into notes - I can sometimes be three-four words ahead of the display. (I don't know whether sync is happening at the time)

Is this expected or, if not, is there any information I can provide to help identify what is going on?

Enable logging and note the computer time when a typing lag occurs, then upload the logos4.log. It should be possible to correlate that time with events in the log.

The attached log relates to a session where I was typing into a notesfile and experienced a delay (maybe just one word behind).

7612.Logos4.log

I was typing between 13:32:20 and 13:32:35

The log doesn't show any sync activity during these times - but it does afterwards.

I guess this means the delays are not related to sync - hence not addressed in this beta

Any further thoughts appreciated.

I have ALWAYS had extreme delays when typing in Notes. It is a bit better than when Logos4 first came out, but not all that much, in my experience. I find the Logos Notes editor almost useless for that reason. As a work around, I type all my notes in MS Word, and then only when finished, I cut and paste into Logos Notes. I do hope Logos can find a way to speed up the Editor sometime.

Yes, there have been delays in typing into Notes.

B8 did include some enhancements (as per the release notes) hence my post on how it was still performing

Yes, the delays you're experiencing are probably unrelated to sync. To help us understand your situation better, please answer the following questions (we don't need exact figures, but just estimates):

How many note files do you have? (1, 5, 10, dozens, hundreds, ...)
How many notes are in the file where you're seeing the lag? (5, 10, 25, 50, hundreds, thousands, one per Bible verse, ...)
How big is the average note? (couple of words, one line, one sentence, one paragraph, half a screen, four screens, thesis, ...)
What is your CPU, its speed, and installed RAM? (2GHz Core 2 Duo w/ 2GB, ...)

I have about 140 notesfiles

There are about 60 notes in the file I was using this morning - but I can reproduce a delay (though shorter) in a file with just one note in

Average note size is about 10 lines or so

CPU details:

CPU - AMD Athlon Neo X2 Dual Core Processor, 1.6MHz
4 GB Ram

Is the lag most noticeable when the caret (current insertion position) moves to a new line (e.g., because you have filled up a line with text)? (More specifically, is it most noticeable when the height of the note increases? This could be when typing new text at the end of a paragraph, but could also be when adding text in the middle of a paragraph pushes other text further down the page.)

Or does that not seem to make any difference, and it can be laggy at the beginning, middle, or end of a line?

Doesn't seem to be related to moving to a new line or changing the height of the note.

I get noticeable lag typing words anywhere within a line
