LOGOS 4 Frustration

I sure miss Logos 3.

Aparently I am missing something or have done something wrong, but every single day I start 4, the silly thing has to download something, update something, or index something. I am getting so accustomed to not using it that my desk is once again pilled with reference books. Saddly, due to a fatal glitch in windows, I have lost the use of Logos 3 and the problem is now even more frustrating. We sure lost a lot of benefits through the transition to 4. 3 was a MUCH BETTER program.

Doug ... do NOT give up on L3 for goodness sakes. Have you tried: http://www.logos.com/support/windows/LDLS-IE9 (fixing IE9 to run with L3)?

I can't believe you would select 'books' over L3. The best programmed software ever (including the resources of course).

Doug, I am sorry you are having problems. I too grew very frustrated at times when I need to study and Logos has to index and "prepare to start." However you DO have some CONTROL: under Tools>Program Settings you can specify when resources/updates download. I set mine for "midnight to 6am". Also, even if something is being downloading at the moment, you can always pause it by going to the Logos icon at the bottom right corner, right-click it and select "pause this download"

If Logos is indexing your library, you can do the same - go to the Logos icon at the bottom right corner, right-click it and select "pause indexing for 4 hours"

Unfortunately, I don't know if there is a way to bypass "Logos is preparing to start" wait, but at least for me it is not more than 5 minutes or so and I can live with that.

I am very sorry you lost the use of L3. If you post the nature of your problem to Logos 3/Libronix forum, I am pretty certain we can hep you to resolve it.

For some reason I have not been able to get L3 to load on my new Win 7 notebook. However, L4 is not giving me the trouble it is giving you.

I wonder if you can simply leave L4 running in the background all the time so that you don't have to go through the 'Preparing' and all that. You can also choose not to load updates or resources when they appear in the system tray until you are not needing the computer by doing this. Or you can set L4 not to download updates automatically (see Tools>Program Settings). You can also pause indexing for 4 hours at a time, which I do frequently on my older, slower desktop computer. There are ways to get better control over Logos 4 which I hope you'll try.

Customer Support can help you with reinstalling Logos 3 if you want to go that way.
