Bug: PB not putting words in correct sequence

Updated by Jason Stone (Logos)

I have built some PBs for Bibles in different languages Amharic & Tigrinya. Since Sr-4 came out the PB compiler changes the order of the words.

Sample file: 6470.Amharic Genesis.docx

Image of SR4 build of my Amharic Genesis

1. Please notice the type is Bible, the language is Amharic, the file is the sample (attached above file) and the L4 version is SR4. Verse 10 has the words out of order.

2. The above image shows the same file and settings for the PB, but is done using SR3. Notice verse 10 has the words in the correct order.

This is happening to many verses in my PB (examine other verse between the 2 images). It is happening to all the other docx files in this PB (not shown in the example images) and in my other Bible using Tigrinya. Both images used the exact same file and the file had not been opened or changed between PB builds.

Blessings in Christ.

    Tes,

given that (according to the release note) the SR4 was about fixing some PB bug where RTL languages showed up in the wrong order, it seems to me that someone "overengineered " this and the PB compiler tries to correct an error that wasn't there in the firstplace.

Hopefully the developers get this solved. I sometimes wonder why the SR's are not beta tested or capable of manual rollback - they just go into the productively installed base and whoever has automatic update installed will receive the SR without a chance to go back to the last stable release if it was buggy.

    Tes,

Logos have told us elsewhere that there is a PB regression problem with SR-4, but I agree that you should get a response to ensure this issue is also recognised.

Yes this is a different twist on the SR4 problems. It is scrambling word order erratically. It would be good if Logos would send this info to the Developers so they could add it to the list of issues with SR4.

Wonder if Logos 4.3 SR-5 (released several hours ago) fixes Personal Books bug ?

I'm working on a PB of an old Greek commentary.  I am placing the text in tables for reasons I won't go into now.  At the end of the sections of the commentary there is a cross.  In some of the sections the cross appears in its proper place.  In some the cross migrates to the beginning of the table section.

    1. Is the Amharic language a right-to-left language?
    2. Is the word order of verses that are on one line correct?
    3. If you expand the width of the personal book panel, so that verses that were on two lines are on one line, are the words now in the correct order?

Is the Amharic language a right-to-left language?

    no.

Thank you Melissa for the response.

    1. No, it is like English from left to right.

    2.No, they are disorder

    3.No, still disorder.

A new problem with the latest update: some words at the end of the verse are disappearing.

Thank you for the additional information. I've submitted your report and document to development.

    Thank You Melissa!

After more in depth checking I have found more problems which might assist the developers.

    Another Sample file (one built Sept 11, 2011): 8637.Amharic 1 Cor.docx

My friend who has SR-3 copied the above sample file (without changing or opening in Word) and built it so that we could compare how my original files worked prior to SR-4 or SR-5. Notice that SR-3 builds the file properly as compared to SR-5 which is now on my computer.

He also found that on my computer if the Justification is toggled the word order changes. This also happens when opening or closing the Table Of Contents for that test document. And it also happens when you change the pane's size. Please notice the images below.

Changes within the SR-5 PB when Justification or TOC are changed

Changes within the SR-5 PB when Pane size is changed

PS: the word order on SR-3 does not change with Justification/TOC/Pane_size.

    Melissa,

I have encountered another problem with disordered sequence.  Previously I could enter a note then back up to insert some Hebrew in the middle of the note (It didn't work to attempt to type in sequence since then everything after the Hebrew appeared in R—>L sequence).  Today I attempted to add to a previously created note and insert some Hebrew only to find that it didn't work as previously — everything became disorganized.
