Indexing is just hanging

Hi all,

I have had the same issue as most with the recent up date not downloading correctly. I tried one method suggested on the boards

[If anybody has not reinstalled it may be worthwhile trying this:-

delete everything in the folder \Logos4\Data\userid\UpdateManager\Installers\
restart L4
if that fails then use Method 2 in my first post to reinstall]

After trying this Logos downloaded then went to re-index and hung on the stage 2 preparing library. Tried re-indexing with Logos open and same thing happened. Logs are attached. Any help would be really good...

Several things are happening in Logos 4:-

failed download of SR-8

trying to download an update

metadata updates

re-index manually

trying to rebuild library catalog index

and the Indexer can't replace the library catalog index

1. Stop the Logos4Indexer if necessary in Task Manager

2. Close L4

3. If it exists delete the file C:\Users\Matt\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\tfc0rexe.k2g\LibraryCatalog/bhk51j5f.cvc

4. ensure permanent logging is enabled

5. Update to SR-8 using http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/Installer/Logos4Setup.exe

Let L4 Start + Indexing commence

Upload logs if there are problems (do not manually rebuild indexes)

Note: you will need to View Hidden Files and Folders (Control Panel >> Folder Options)

Hi Dave and the other Logos experts!,

I tried your solution. However Logos still just sits there preparing the library without actually moving to stage. The only log files created are below...

Something unexpected is happening. It is downloading SR-8 but finally re-configuring to SR-7. I think it is better to start over but we can install without downloading all your resources by following Method 3 --> http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers#Method_3

move the L4 \Resources folder to C:\Users\Matt\ (this will be quick)
copy C:\Users\Matt\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents to any safe location
uninstall Logos 4 from Control Panel >> Programs and Features NB. leave Prerequisites alone
delete the \Logos4 folder
enable permanent logging
install as per Method 3 using the Resources at C:\Users\Matt\Resources

Hi Dave thanks for your help.

Logos4 is now going through the laborious task of indexing which is great (so far 29% through).

Once this is complete do I leave the resources folder in the new drive location?

Also it is still saying it has the latest update to download. Do I download the update via Logos4 itself?

Once complete and trouble-free you can delete the backup resource folder you created.

There shouldn't be a software update, so let the indexing continue and refuse the update. If you enabled logging then upload a copy of logos4indexer.log and logos4.log (without stopping any program).

Please zip (compress) them next time. Also useful to specify the full path (C:\Users\Matt\Resources) as C:\Users\Matt caused a lot of access errors and picked up a lot of Libronix resources (the latest ones will be used and it might pick up some extras!).

I don't understand why it is using SR-7 (did you use the web link?) but Bible Indexing is done and Library indexing is going well.

How big is the pending update (just look in Program Settings)?

Indexing is going OK and there are no problems.

Hi Dave,

Well it finally finished indexing, although the icon seemed to get stuck in the task bar.

I tried downloading the 44.1mb update and it still doesn't seem to download properly. This is really getting frustrating!!!

The log indicates an MD5 checksum error with logos4.msi for SR-8. Other users had this problem earlier and there was no satisfactory resolution!

Is SR-7 is working satisfactorily (the Indexer log indicates no issues with resource indexing)? Because you can choose to continue and ignore the download or try this:-

ensure the Indexer and logos 4 are not running (let a download attempt fail)
load the msi direct from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/Installer/4.30.0.1624/Logos4.msi
double click and try to install

Well without the update Logos is running ok at the moment. When repairing Logos using the link provided it still says there is the 44.1mb file ready to download...unless I have done something wrong again...

What happened with the "repair" as the logos4.msi is supposed to install SR-8 (try right click and select Install).

Hi Dave,

Yep tried that...still stuck on SR-7...I updated then closed Logos4, then right clicked on the .msi file.

Repair runs fine and closes down but achieves nothing

I am still having problems updating to SR-8. The latest update is still not sticking. I have emailed support and they haven't responded back and I haven't seen a response on these boards so far regarding a fix for this error.

Instead of updating to 4.3 SR-8, wonder about trying to update to current stable 4.5 SR-2 ? Caveat: Logos 4.5 does expose highlighting as note file(s). If using notes, prudent for sync to be up to date before attempting Logos 4.5 installation.

It's actually trying to update you to 4.5 SR-2 and this time it is the Logos4Prerequisites.msi that failed the hash check!

I would try the download:-

after running a memory check (Win 7 has one in Control Panel >> Administrative Tools) OR
from a direct, wired Internet connection if you normally use wireless OR
from another location, with another Internet provider.
