PBB Clarification

Is it still the case that PBB files compiled under Libronix 3 are unusable in Logos 4 apart from the original .docx files being recompiled with Logos 4's PBB compiler?

If so, (as I suspect) is this concept effectively at a dead end...In other words, should we conclude that there never will be a "converter" within Logos 4 or via a 3rd party that would make the transition from Libronix 3 PBB files to Logos 4 LESS complicated then the need to obtain and recompile the source files.

Is is possible NOW to share a Logos 4 user compiled PBB file with another Logos 4 use?

If not, is it likely ever to be possible?

If so, is there an internet location where user compiled PBB files for Logos 4 are available?

looks that way, but the quality of v4 PBB makes this worthwhile

With SOPA being defeated, this should be less of a problem, at least here in the U.S. Though this does raise the issue of reporting inappropriate as well as illegal (i.e., copyrighted) material.

The major issue is setting up the "store" for sharing. Logos has said a user can upload a file for sale, if they wish, so any "store," created would have to take that into account in even a beta design. So far, there is no beta. I haven't heard if there is any in-house testing going on, or whether web-dev energies are being focused elsewhere right now.

I suspected all of the above; but the clarification effectively settles the question of the usability within Logos 4 (and forward) of all the PBB work achieved for Libronix 3 : Not going to happen!

SOPA was defeated because of the way it went about it. Copyright infringements, once reported, could be taken care of by voiding any licenses for that work (maybe)

That's why I don't think it will ever happen (at least not in this generation). I think Logos wants it to happen, and of course we all want it to happen, but what's to stop Logos' servers from becomming another Napster, but with books instead of music? Logos can't take that risk, and how would we like it if the publishing industry created a militia like the music industry did and started suing single-moms for millions of dollars? (This isn't the place to argue whether that was right or wrong...hold your own opinion on that...it's just a factual possibility, even if remote.)

The technology is too good, in terms of scanning complete books (which are NOT public domain yet) and uploading them to allow an unmoderated sharing service, with or without some version of SOPA.

Just my opinion, and not one that makes me happy, but it is how I think things will go for the near future.
