Currently there are many new resources from "Jewish Publication Society". What would you recommend? I see resources on history, Jewish wisdom, etc., but frankly speaking, I don't know the authors and the subject at all.
Personally, I'm in on The JPS Bible Commentary: Ruth and Jerusalem: Portrait of the City in the Second Temple Period. The latter resource claims to be "brimming with maps and photographs" that seem interesting.

Me too.
Thanks, Paul!
Pre-ordering it.
The book Jerusalem: Portrait of the City in the Second Temple Period by Lee Levine is a very good book. I have the hardcover. Plus I have heard Lee Levine speak. Any book by him is an excellent resource.
How to Read the Bible by Brettler is quite good.
