Highlight s & duplicate notes

If I create a new palette and move an existing style to it, will all the notes attached to that style be duplicated in the new palette? If not, how can I get that done?

The reason I ask is because I have styles that I've created in My Markings palette; one is called Trinity. I'd like to create a new palette, and move the style for Trinity to it so I can see every verse I've highlighted for that style only. It would make for a nice verse list on that particular style/subject. I have a lot of them I'd like to do this for. Thanks for the help.

Anthony - I am not aware of a way to duplicate the note file, sorry. You can, however, create a new note file and drag the old notes into it.

I ask because there are two options when working with styles: move and copy. It just follows that if you move the style to another palette the notes would follow also.

Maybe you know of a way of isolating all the notes or verses in a particular style so I can easily drag them to a new note file? Just trying to think of a different way around the problem. Thanks for the help.

Let me explain how I am running my notes... Logos provides great flexibility in this, and I think our workflows are different.

First, Logos has automatically created a note folder for each of your palettes during the transition from 4.3 to 4.5. The default system is to have notes go into palette named folders, which is apparently how you are operating. I can't stand that. I don't see a connection between the palette (or styles) and my notes. Instead, I have created the folders that I want, and tell the palettes where to put the notes. My most frequently used palette is "sticky" - that is to say it will put my highlights into the last used note file. By using this system it is important to remember to switch note files when you need to.

My note files are sorted by book or bible. I love to highlight, and so I am creating a new note file every time I begin a new book (i.e. For the Love of God by D.A. Carson just had a note file created). Whenever I open up For the Love of God, I open the note file as well. This will send all of my highlights from my main palette into that folder. Again, if I switch books, I must make sure to open the appropriate note folder so that my highlights end up in the right place.

To answer your question, in my system at least, I don't think it would make sense for the notes to follow when you copy a style from one palette to another. I do agree with you that file management is very much needed. You can sort the notes by "note color." You should be able to sort by "highlighter style" as well.
