Notes in My Content Search Results
Hello, I can't seem to find the answer so I am posting this question. I have a note called "Titus 2:3-5 Notes" in the body of the notes is the word Crete, so when I do a basic search for the word Crete the "My Content" area includes my said note.
However, in the body of my notes is this: "Titus 2:3-5" but when I do a basic search for Titus 2:3-5 my saved notes do not show in the "My Content" area. Why?
What I want to do is have my notes on Titus 2:3-5 to show up in my content when I search for Titus 2:3-5, so is that possible? I realize that the basic search will search all of my notes for the search string I entered, but it does not seem to pick up on scripture references.

Hi Clayton, If the Bible reference is in the body of the notes, then you should be able to search the Bible reference. You need to enter it without any quotation marks, in the same way it appears in the note in the search box. The result should show up under my content, but only as a hyperlink. You have to click on it to open the note file to the location and read it in your note file. Doesn't it work that way for you?

No it does not show up, even when I click the link to the passage guide for that reference.

Sometimes it takes a while for a note file to be indexed so it shows up in searches. Try it again, does it work now? Did you do a basic search of all resources?

Nope! But when I search for the word crete, which is in my note, it finds it! See attached screenshots

A question... Do you have "Match Case" checked? If you do then the difference between titus and Titus matters (presumably the title of a note file doesn't get tagged as a Bible ref) Try searching for Titus and see if that note file comes up.

Tried it and no good. I searched crete and Crete and both ways found my notes. Does the name of the note matter? I want my notes for any passage to show up when I search a reference, like Titus 2:3-5, so I want to link my notes to the bible reference so I can read my previous notes on that passage.

Ok, do you know how to attach a note to a reference? It should come up then when you search for a reference. See: wiki.logos.com/Notes#Adding_a_note_to_a_Bible_reference_in_all_Bibles

OK will do that, but should this be working the way I think it should? I used the name Paul 3 times in my note on Titus 2:2-5 and when I did a basic search on Paul my notes came up under my Content, so it seems that it is not finding the words: "Titus 2:3-5" even though it is in the body of the notes. Presumably if I put "Kevin Becker" in my notes and search for Kevin Becker it will bring up all notes that contain the name Kevin Becker. Am I correct?

Yes you're correct.
I don't know why Titus 2:3-5 isn't coming up in your search results, especially if is in the body of the note file. I suppose it's possible that the punctuation is causing a problem in finding a title.
My computer is indexing right now so I can't really test out permutations of what's happening. I do see that I am able to search for references in my note files (but I don't use references in the titles). When I'm done indexing I'll experiment and report what I find.

OK I got the add a note to a reference, that is easy, thanks!

I figured it out. This is a case of the Logos search engine being too smart. When you searched for Titus 2:3-5 it recognized that was a Bible reference and behind the scenes searched for <bible ~ Titus 2:3-5>, it was looking for a Bible reference. However, The note file title is not automatically tagged as a Bible reference it is just plan text. Placing quotes around a search overcomes the auto-parse.

So, if you want to title a Note file with a Scripture reference it's best to include that reference in the specific notes in the note file.
I hope this makes sense, please let me know if it doesn't.

Makes total sense, but check this out: what I did was made my notes title a hyperlink to the text in my ESV and then searched . . . . . and it found my notes! Then I removed the hyperlink so that the title was text only and then searched . . . . and it found my notes! In both the above scenarios I did not have "Titus 2:3-5" in the body of my notes, so it look like search does look at the title of my note.
I had experimented with putting the name kevin in my notes and then searching and it immediately found the note. Then I misspelled Titus as "Tittus" and searched . . . nothing. Then I searched Kevin agan, it found it, so I misspelled church as "chuchr" and searched, found it right away, so I tried to spell titus as "tituss" and searched, no good. So I am guess that the engine is possibly trying to auto correct my misspelling of a book of the bible.
There are still some quirky issues here because what I described in my first paragraph is not working, but no problem I will keep trying different things. It really helps me understand the program! Thanks for your help, I have learned much! Now I have to get my Sunday School lesson finished, so enough plying for me.

It does. It also looks for the bible passage that was annotated or highlighted. When it is hyperlinked search for <titus 2.3-5> or <Matt 3.5> as you don't have to worry about the spelling and number format.

Allow about 3 minutes for new words to be indexed, else they cannot be found.
