Clifford ... can we assume this is L4 only? The Libronix download delivers an empty file.

DMB,
Unfortunately we will only have a L4 version of this resource. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the quick reply Clifford ... and it's March 1 so that makes sense.

I use Whitaker's words, so I'm very happy to see this in Logos. I don't know if it's intended this way, or if it's a glitch, but when you click on a conjugated or declined form, it goes to the lemma - you have to type the particular form in the window at the top to get the possible parsings for it. But this is minor compared to having it in Logos - a big thank you!
Edit - if you right click, it'll go right to the morph form.

Thanks [:D] Wonder about adding to Perseus search => http://www.logos.com/products/search?Product+Type=Perseus
Appears Latin Dictionary includes analytical parsing. [8-|]

When is the expected release of the Latin Bibles in Interlinear form? Since now we have a latin ‘Lexicon’…..? [I took note of your post there KS4J---]

Yes, that would be awesome.
I do hope to learn some Latin someday, and this would help. Though George would tell me having a Latin Interlinear Bible would be the worst thing to do if I want to learn some Latin. I beg to disagree. I think it's a great little step ladder. Never the place to stay, of course.

Hey Clifford, got an indexing issue with the download. It has been sitting at 0% for at least 10 minutes - need to check whatever....anyone else getting this?

I'm guessing this is from the Perseus Latin texts? The Perseus texts are lemma tagged, so Logos prefers the lemma to the conjugated/declined form on a double-click. In a sense, the auto-lemma tagging we applied to the Perseus texts is redundant with (part of) the function of a WORDS lookup that this dictionary is based on.
As others have noted, the great thing about this dictionary is that you can use it not just to look up lemmas, but to instantly get possible parsing for hundreds of thousands of conjugated or declined forms. This adds incredible value to the Vulgate and the growing number of other Latin texts in Logos.
I also can't resist putting in another plug for Lewis & Short's Latin Dictionary. This tool provides a handy lookup for any form, but once you've used it to find the lemma, it would be great to be able to jump to more in-depth information from there. Lewis & Short would provide that (if we can get enough orders).

Robert, deleting the index file may not help. You need to go to my documents, and look for the folder that says Logos Logs. Upload the file so others can have a look.

I also have an indexing problem after downloading the resource. I tried restarting Logos and even killed the indexer, but it kept coming back and staying at 0%. I even rebooted my computer. I finally gave up and instituted the command "Rebuild Index' It is now at about 67% complete. I hope that solved the problem. Very annoying.

I don't think there's a keyboard shortcut for it. I think you have to type "rebuild index" into the command bar.

Rosie, can you look at my files and see if you can diagnose the problem please? With nearly 4500 resources it will take four or more hours to rebuild my index.

Mine's taking a very long time to index, too... after a couple of hours, only 20% done... of course, in only an hour, look how far it's come from 1% where it was stuck for the 1st hour!

I saw this in the log file:
System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 216.57.209.242:443
I have no idea what could be causing that, but I know that Logos had some server problems earlier today. We were not able to connect at all to wiki.logos.com or topics.logos.com. Those are back up and running again as of a little before 3PM PST (see this thread), so whatever server Logos wasn't able to connect to for indexing might be back up again now. I looked up the IP address 216.57.209.242 to see what it was (assuming it to be some Logos server) but failed to identify it; however it is hosted at WHIDBEY1 which is where logos.com is hosted (http://seeallweb.org/domain/logos.com) so it's a pretty good bet it's one of theirs.
I'm sorry I don't have time to follow up on this further for you. I'm working on my sermon for this Sunday and need to stay focused on that.

Wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging
With "permanent" logging enabled (before Logos4Indexer launch), the Logos4Indexer.log file has information about download and indexing progress.
Personally experienced Indexer getting stuck because my temp folder filled up so needed to change my environment variables to use a bigger temp area while indexing Dictionary of Latin Forms.
While Notification % has not changed for awhile; Windows Task Manager shows Logos4Indexer.exe is using 13 % of CPU along with lots of bytes being read and written.

Talking to myself:
1. Downloaded Dictionary of Latin Forms at approx. 2:38 P.M.
2. Wouldn't Index. (stayed at 0%)
3. Finally instituted "rebuild index" about 3:00 P.M.
4. Completed Indexing at 6:37 P.M.
3517 total resources. Internet connection over a Verizon high speed FIOS

There is something radically amiss here and it is unique to Logos or to this resource file.
Everything seems to be workingj now, but there is no excuse for this!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Lynden. I wasn't that patient and started the rebuild index. After 20 minutes it is at 2%, but I guess it is working.

So did everyone get the Lexicon working? David reported that his file was only 40mb, mine is 252mb, did we all get the same file downloaded?
Also, I still have the indexing issue apparently, I started L4 and it started the indexing again......Where's Clifford?

It is working fine for me now. Last night I gave up on the indexing on my laptop and manually commanded it to rebuild the index. It was fine this morning. On my desktop this morning it seemed to stall at 0% again, but I just went on with some other work and when I checked a little later it was done. If i recall correctly both of the downloads were about 47mb.

I really hope this offer doesn't make people less willing to bid on Lewis & Short. Nice as this is, it seems to be Classical, and, well, the few times I'm willing to take the time to consult a Latin original, it's going to be something like Aquinas or some liturgical text or some council document, which this doesn't really seem to be the right dictionary for.

This size factor does concern me some, how is it that we both downloaded the same download and mine is so much bigger, is there any others who have a different size? I checked my server and the netbook and all have the same.....252mb

So did everyone get the Lexicon working?
After some indexing trials and tribulations, now working. Along the way, learned my GlossWordsDict.logos4 resource is 252 MB. My Logos Library index has grown to 5.92 GB, which runs out of disk space in my 40 GB fast partition when new resources are indexed since a copy of the library index is created while merging postings. For Windows performance boost, my fast partition (F) also has a large system paging file.
Hence, my Logos 4 resource installation process on Windows has become:
- Download Logos 4 resource updates and/or purchases
- Close all programs
- Move 8 GB page file to C:
- Reboot
- Logos 4 Index resources
- Defragment my fast partition (F:)
- Move 8 GB page file to F: (leaves 6.69 GB free)
- Move Logos4Indexer.log file
- Reboot
- Open programs for use, including Logos 4
By the way, completely rebuilding my Bible and Library indexes took 4 hours 17 minutes; my library has 6,287 resources (16.1 GB): Scholar's Platinum plus Master Library Builder plus many Community Pricing titles (past year) plus more.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Interesting KS4J.
the size concerned me so I:
Logged in as Admin
deleted the resource from the resource folder
Rebooted and logged in proper
started L4
got the update notice and followed through w/it
had the same size and currently on the downside of Indexing..
[edit: OL(JG), under 2k resources, just over 7gb ]

Which problem. I set up a layout called Latin and have most of the latin books ready to go. are you by chance referring to the size or the indexing issue?

It fixes the indexing problem.
There is no size problem: the size of the download is 47MB; this is decompressed to 252MB when the resource is installed. This is by design.
(The size of the update is only 20KB; again, this generates a 252MB file.)
