Doing a topical search

What steps do I need to follow to do a topical search on the "Fundamentals of Pentacostal Theology". I have tried the command line and entered the above mentioned topic, and the Search icon as well. I have clicked on "Basic" for a search type. I then clicked on "All Texts" and "Entire Library". I show 3684 volumes in my library, yet I cannot tease out the information for which I am searching. I come up with one article n Exploring Church History, "Response to the Gospel". I have entered subject:pentacostal theology, and get nothing. I have tried subject:theology, and get nothing. I have re-read Section 7 of the Camp 1 syllabus and could not find an answer. I have re-read Section 20 in Volume 1 of the Logos Bible Software Training Manual, and still cannot make it happen. Can someone please help me with this search dilemma?

May I suggest spelling it "Pentecostal" and perhaps doing a search for simply "Pentecostal Theology" - in my library it produces 71 results

Jim, you might be trying to enter the right thing (almost) in the wrong place. The "subject:" filter is for use in the Library "Find" box. If you're entering it in the Search tab instead, that would explain why it isn't working. (Even though you'd spelled Pentecostal wrong, your search for books on theology using subject:theology would have worked fine if you had entered that in the Library.)

Also, when you're looking in your library for books with a subject that is a phrase of two or more words, you need to enclose them in quotation marks, so for example, subject:"pentecostal theology"

If you follow David Carter's suggestion and do a Search in the Search Tab for "pentecostal theology" (spelled correctly) and still can't find what you're looking for, perhaps you don't have resources in your library that cover that topic.

There is a book by very nearly the title you're seeking, called Foundations of Pentecostal Theology. (not fundamentals, as you were seeking). Make sure you spell it right, and if you're searching for it in your Library Find box (not the Search tab) you should find it. Searching Heading Text; Large Text finds some topical articles.

from all the good advice in this thread, KS4J's was the best. The reason for this is the way Search works (and library filter/search as well). If you search for "pentecostal theology" in quotes, the search will match only if exactly this string (sequence of characters) is found - it will not yield "theology of the pentecostal movement". NEAR or AND will do. Restricting the search to headings, titles etc. will avoid hits where an author might say "the church next door was leaning toward pentecostal ideas. Their pastor had studied theology at the XYZ university" without treating your topic.

However, all the results depend on what is in your library - e.g. my >3000 resources give me for only one hit.

I'd assume that a lot of the dictionaries give information on "fundamentals of theology" under a "pentecostal" headword without calling it "theology" explicitly. This obviously has been filtered through the editor's viewpoints. I refrained from doing all these searches now. And I found that there's no definitive Reading List about Pentecostalism" (what an oversight!), but some that will lead you to the doctrinal statements of pentecostal churches.

Your question phrase first let me think something totally different: "isn't this exactly the title of the book on this topic?" - it turned out: no. The one resource you may need is called "foundations" rather than "fundamentals" http://www.logos.com/product/2476/foundations-of-pentecostal-theology

So, in case you need to first get the relevant resources into your library, before you then get meaningful search hits, it is helpful to know that Logos tagged (some of) their products. Go to Logos.com/products. You want ressources on the topic "theology": select them.

Then you want specifically pentecostal resources: Far below in the left-hand pane you'll find "Christian group". You need to expand it by "more" to get to the pentecostal resources.

Click it and you're done:

It seems these resources would help to study the fundamentals of pentecostal theology.
