Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

How would you compare and / or contrast this with

Jones, David A. Old Testament Quotations and Allusions in the New Testament. Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 2009.

    and

Beale, G. K. and D. A. Carson. Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament. Grand Rapids, MI; Nottingham, UK: Baker Academic; Apollos, 2007.

I don't know it at all. I just stumbled on the title online somewhere. But I'm a glutton for this type of book, and am hoping to set up the kind of visual filter that Kevin Becker did with OT quotations in the NT. One more book can't hurt, as there could be some quotations that others missed. I throw lots of suggestions into the pot. I trust Logos to evaluate which ones have merit and which don't. I will make an argument for one only if I know the work. If not, I just post the title. I usually know the works, though, when I recommend them. You just caught me at one of the few that I didn't know.

I have this on paper, but I haven't had time to use it much yet. It seems to be fairly restricted to quotations, rather than allusions. There are no translations, so it requires original language skills (should suit you, George! [;)]). It's printed with 4 columns -- MT, LXX, GNT and comments -- and sorted in OT order only (Protestant canon). Though there is, of course, an accompanying index in NT order. I could probably scan a couple of pages some other day, if someone wants it.

And I agree with you, Rosie: it is possible that someone missed something. It happens. That is why we need each other.

    Rosie,

A kind Logos user referred me to your request here. Sorry I didn't notice it earlier.

Archer's book hits the target for me (sorry about that)! especially for on screen computer use.

I would hope the Logos version allows us to copy/paste print ACROSS the page.

[Y] I would also like to see this resource in Logos. The notes comparing the Greek New Testament to both the Hebrew and the Septuagint are invaluable.
