Another forum user in THIS THREAD pointed out that searches were not working. After some investigation, I discovered that the search was working offline, but not online. The first screen shot shows an online search. The second is offline.
This same search works fine on my iPad when online.
So it looks like an iPad-specific issue or a server problem which has been resolved.
Is it still not working for you?

I was able to reproduce around 20min ago or so, but not anymore on my phone.

Is it just server issues?
Though I can't confirm for sure, that would be my guess.
