XP and Logos 4

Is there anyone running L4 on XP? Is so what are the performance issues? I'm excited from what I read about L4 from the forums here and I would love to take it out for a test drive but alas I stand outside the showroom floor looking in and drooling. Big Smile

BTW my lap top specs are

XP SP 3

Core 2 CPU

1.99 GHZ 2.00 GB of RAM

I'm not a computer geek but can I get into the showroom or at least sit in the driver's seat and just look at the dashboard of L4?

Scott it works well on XP. I was using it on 512 MB of Ram, and Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ.. The biggest problem was with indexing it took eternity.

My system is similar or less: 5 yr old Thinkpad T42p with a 2GHz Pentium M CPU (single core) with 2 GB RAM running XP SP3 . It has a decent video card for a laptop of that vintage, so that may help, as does the 7200rpm hard drive.

It's quite useable. Not as snappy a v3 of course, and I've documented my sync issues elsewhere. But if your computer is like mine I would recommend it.

A full index of my 1800 resources takes about 7 hours.

I'm running XP with specs a bit less that yours. While I'm sure it isn't as snappy as some of the power users here, it really isn't agonizing or anything. In fact, my biggest issue is the refresh time of the Information window, which I see in other posts is quite common. I don't upgrade to a new computer very frequently, so my expectations are generally kept low. That being said, for many operations, I don't see a great deal of difference from L3 performance, after everything is installed and indexed.

It's OK (see my signature block) with Libronix v3, Firefox with 6 tabs, Email client, Word running! Lag on tabs can get annoying at times, and I have at least 15 tabs with books, searches, Guides, Collections and Library.

Ok first... I am ashamed. With that out of the way...[:)]

I am using a 17in MacBook Pro (newest) running Leopard, I use VMWare Fusion with XP Sp3 and Logos 4. And it runs pretty good.... thanks to some of the suggestions people have made about the VMWare settings.

Here are the minimum, recommended, and optimal specs for computer wanting to run L4. Hope this helps you out. Maybe it will be a chance to upgrade! [:)]
