Logos on a Server/Cloud Drive

I dont have enough space on my local hard drive for Logos, and I'm trying to download it to my server here at work (church). However, after downloading the intial application and prerequisites, Logos stops working when I try to sign in with my Logos account.

Has anyone successfully downloaded Logos to a server (or a cloud drive for that matter) and successfully installed and run the program from said server/cloud?

I should have added that this is Logos 4 and its on a PC.

Logos is not designed to be run on a server. You will need to get a new HD or computer.

So no one has ever successfully run it off a server or cloud? The tech I spoke with on the phone implied that there have been others who figured out how to successfully pull this off.

it may simply be the way of installation. Since logos is a one-user software, maybe it can't be installed onto a shared drive, but expects to go into a user specific path - that's the same on our PCs.

Spenser ... welcome to the forums! And good luck with trying to accomodate Logos4. It's fun studying the Bible.

If you wish to pursue your question, and have a reasonable talent with Windows, the first thing I'd do is check how it installed on the server In other word, compare (1) the pathing of the software and (2) the pathing of the user data (separate locations).

My guess from your description, #2 is likely the failing (which in theory you might be able to fix by renaming etc).

Other forum users have complained that they can't control the installation to do what you are trying. I don't know why a tech on the phone would lead you to believe it is possible when the minimum specs clearly say it must be on a local drive -

Note: I can't cut and paste the URL in this text editor on my iPad, but if you search "network drive" in the search box in the upper right corner of this interface you an read some of the things that have been tried and failed.

I don't know how fast your network connection is, but many users report that NOT ONLY, must the drive be a local drive but it must be a high speed (7200 rpm, Hybrid or SSD) drive to yield a satisfactory user experience. Last May I bought a new laptop and the performance difference is day and night. My older systems were a netbook (L4 was like swimming in molasses) but eventually did what I asked, a Windows XP laptop with 2 GB ram and a 5400 RPM HDD which was functional, but wait times were noticeable. New laptop (Win7, 8 GB Ram, i7 processor, discrete graphics card and Hybrid HDD) L4 is a JOY.

I don't share this to discourage you, but to help you avoid an unpleasant experience. Logos 4 is the most resource intensive software I run and proper hardware makes a HUGE difference. If your Hard drive is too small for a proper L4 installation, you may have other hardware limitations as well.

Note: you may also want to search the forums for posts about "SSD" or "Hardware recommendation" to learn from other forum users.
