Word Perfect Language Font Problem

I use WordPerfect X5. Unfortunately, when I copy verses in Greek or Hebrew in Libronix, and paste them into a WordPerfect document, I get either, greek and hebrew letters all strung together without spaces, or I get strange characters (like question marks) scattered throughout the text.

Anyone have a solution? The problem is significant enough to make me willing to abandon Libronix if it cannot be fixed. Abandoning WordPerfect for an inferior product like WORD does not work for me.

Has WordPerfect fixed their problems with unicode? I loved WordPerfect and used if for everything until I began working with Greek and Hebrew unicode fonts. I finally got tired of the headache and made the switch. I still miss some of the things WP would do, but complete unicode support is an absolute must in today's world.

The issue is with WP and its lack of unicode support.

Thanks. I appreciate the responses. From more research into the problem, it would appear WordPerfect does not feel it is in their financial interest to deal with the unicode problems (too much investment and not enough profit). They may be right and if so, from a business perspective their decision makes sense, though that is singularly unhelpful to the few of us who need it.

I'm not sure about a path forward. BibleWorks claims to have solved this problem within their program. I'm going to give it a try before abandoning WordPerfect for Word.

BW is also not unicode compliant. BW uses its own fonts. It will work great on your computer, but if you send your document to another computer that does not have BW fonts, you will run into a font issue.

It is true, of course, that other people, not having those fonts, may not be able to read what I send them. This is why I convert documents I send to a pdf with the fonts embedded (I used to have this problem with Gramcord). But more important for me is the creation of study and lecture documents where I need to include the Greek and Hebrew Text. Currently, there are limits to what I can do using Libronix and WordPerfect. As much as I hate the thought of buying yet another Bible program, it may be my only choice. I'm not giving up WordPerfect.

If it's just biblical text you would need to paste into WP, how about a WP document that contained the entire Hebrew OT and Greek NT set up with the correct fonts for each? Then you could do your work in L4, but when you needed to copy a biblical text, pull it from this file. I know this is a bit more complicated, but it would save having to buy another program. You should be able to find files for these online. I could help you with the Greek--probably have it in whatever character mapping you would need.

Thanks for this info. This must have been added after BW7, because BW7 is not completely

I did a few searches on the web, but could not find the Greek text (or Hebrew) in a WP format. If you have the Greek, in either the Nestle or UBS edition, that would be great. My email is MikeTune@MikeTune.com

This may sound like a weird workaround, but I cut and paste first into a MS Word document and then cut and paste that into WordPerfect. Nearly everything is preserved (shiym's are not). I have not tried to paste into something like an RTF document.

A quick update to an old discussion. To Paste from Logos, and include greek/hebrew, in Word Perfect X7 go to "Edit", "Paste Special", "Unicode". Problem solved. I created a macro, and assigned it to the keystroke "Alt-U".
