Quit Unexpected L4Mac Beta

L4Mac took a while to start this morning ... that 'downloading and syncing' message, followed by 'preparing your library' message.

It crashed during this.

I do not know if it was auto installing the new beta, so it may be a Beta 5 install, or a Beta 4 crash.

I started L4Mac again, to find the version and it crashed again ...

After 3rd or 4th attempted load, it is still crashing, but it is no longer generating the 'Reports to Apple'. Now it opens the main window, without panels, before crashing.

A restart of the Mac sees the indexer startup, 'preparing resources', and then disappear.

L4Mac is back to crashing at startup ... no window ... no L4Mac.

I wondered earlier about the version .. but realised that I had not seen the updater app at all ... so this will be Beta4 then.

Time to fire up parallels and update L4Win.

Ok. My monologue continues ...

I downloaded B5 to see if this had been resolved ... no [:(]

B5 give no apple error, shows the L4Mac windows (and toolbar etc. as earlier) but without panels again.

Then it quits without warning.

I used L4Win to return to a blank layout before loading L4Mac ... (i could not remember how to load L4Mac with a blank layout directly).

This allowed L4Mac to load. I think I have a corrupt layout. I was able to load a similar "application closing' layout from a couple of days ago.

The more recent layout (the one that crashes) has the info window open, with the settings showing a lot of cross-references. That is the only difference I can see, and that thought is clutching at straws since I always have the info window set to 'click' so on load it should be empty.

Having seen a number of Logos 4 crashes, have learned to look for error messages to see what needs some tender loving care.
