Dutch Statenvertaling not seen as bible

I don't know why this is, but of all the Dutch Bibles only the well renown Statenvertaling (svv) is not seen as a Bible. I am not able to search this resource by "Bible Search" etc, nor it is listed in the dropdown list of "Choose preferred Bible".

Is there a solution for this problem? I use this translation very often!

I really enjoy Logos 4. It really fills my Bible exploration needs!

Hello Hans,

I am also able to choose SVV for my preferred Bible. Is your Logos 4 up-to-date at version SR-6? Click on the Help icon and choose About Logos Bible Software to find the version. If it isn't at SR-6, and you haven't see the update download yet, type update now in the Command box and press Enter.

Misschien heb je hetzelfde probleem gehad als ik in het begin. De NBG en de SVV stonden wel in mijn bibliotheek (Library) maar ik kon ze niet kiezen als mijn voorkeurs-Bijbel (preferred Bible L3).

Staan bij jou deze bijbels wel in je bibliotheek (library)? Zo ja en ze zijn daar grijs dan heb je waarschijnlijk het zelfde probleem als ik toen.

Ik ben door Logos service gebeld en zij hebben toen op mijn computer ingelogd gezocht naar een oplossing. Dat bleek het legen (=wissen/verwijderen) van de cache te zijn. Nu weet ik wel waar dit bestand voor Logos 3 op mijn Mac staat, maar ik weet niet hoe dat zit onder Windows. En ook niet hoe het werkt bij Logos 4.

Toen ik Logos 4 installeerde nam hij mijn voorkeursbijbel (NBG) automatisch over.

Misschien dat je een email kunt sturen aan de klantenservice.

I think you have the same problem I have had with the L3 version on my Mac. The dutch bibles were available but greyed out in th Library. Emptying my caches did the trick and I could choose these dutch bibles as my preferred bibles. When I installed Logos 4 on my computer it automatically took over my preferred dutch bibles

I know where to find the caches on my Mac but I do not know this for a windows machine how this works under Logos 4

Perhaps you can send an email to customer service.

Luuk (see below converstation in Dutch) perhaps had the same problem some time ago.It appeared to be a problem of emptying the cache. Logos then took control over his computer and the problem was solved. Perhaps this is also possible in my case.

I should have also asked you to check the version of the resource. To do that, open the SVV and click on the Information icon (i in small circle). The version is under Support Info at the bottom.

That is the version I have and I am able to search the SVV as a Bible.

Not sure if that helps you, but at least it's not the Bible version.

(BTW, I don't speak Dutch, except for a few phrases.)

Additional: Are you able to navigate the SVV by opening it from the Library and then typing a Bible reference into its navigation box?

My answer is quite late. I wasn't able to answer earlier.

Indeed I'm able to open my SVV in my library and to type any reference. I'm also able to use SVV in my Copy Bible Verses box.

But strange enough I' m not able to search in the bible or to include SVV in Text Comparison.

Dear Logos folks, dear Phil,

Again, this is taking way tooooo long. I know you all are busy but would you PLEASE consider to lend a helping hand over here. This long waiting happened before when I had problems. Only after making a very loud noise on the forum (the old one) help came finally. Phil, it was you who helped me out when I had problems to use my dutch bibles. Remember. And I am still very grateful for that. It was making me trust Logos and that is why I continued using it and even upgraded to a higher base package. Can you do the trick again to help Hans. To me, it looks like the same kind of problem I had. In logos 3 I know the way, but not yet in Logos 4. So, would you please get someone to help Hans using his dutch Statenvertaling the way it should!! This SVV translation (comparable to the KJV) is very important to him and I agree with him completely. Assume all the KJV translations were not working.....in that case I could hear the wolves crying fiercely on the forums...and you were running a lot faster.

Don't get me wrong: I really love Logos and I appreciate your efforts to help us in many ways. But sometimes you have to hear from others what is missing.

Hans, I'm not a Logos employee, but I just saw this again and am trying to guess what may work. It seems to me that the lack of ability to search is related to the search index. So with that theory in mind I have two suggestions, neither of which may work, but either of which could.

First the easier one: Open Logos4 and open Tools> Program Settings. Click on the "Hidden Resources" section so that it opens. Then open your library and find the SVV. Move it to the Hidden Resources. Close Logos4 and restart. Logos4 may find the SVV and remove it from your Library, so give L4 a few minutes to do this. Then close L4 again* (see indented paragraph below), and open it. Now open Program Settings again navigate to the "Hidden Resources" area and find the SVV. Click on the "X" to the right of the resource to remove it from the "Hidden Resources" panel. Logos4 may begin to download and re-index the resource immediately, or it may take a few minutes, or you may have to restart Logos4 one more time.

*After hiding and restarting Logos,and before restarting to 'un-hide' it, you may want to check to make sure it's gone. To do this open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\[series of random numbers]\ResourceManager\Resources (Note: this is what it looks like in Win7, XP and Vista will look a bit different). If you find that it's still there, delete it or move anywhere it outside of the Logos4 resource path (e.g. C:\Temp).

The second way requires re-indexing your entire L4 library. To do this, exit Logos4 and delete the resource index. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<Random>\LibraryIndex. Delete everything in that folder. Then re-open Logos4. It should begin to re-index everything. Remember this can take hours.

Let me know if either of these work for you.
