I can't see my Logos 5

My logos icon disappeared from my quick launch, I can't see "Logos" in my program folders, I don't see it in my programs list in my start menu, and it has disappeared from my desktop.

OK. Fine. I went to my email and tried to launch for Windows. I downloaded and opened LogosSetup.exe. Surprise; it said my Logos 5 is up to date. But I can't find it. Not on my C drive, not in my user folder...

Where should I go look?

If I recall, the program data folder in Windows which may be hidden. You may need to unhide System files and folders in the windows explorer options. Do a google search for how to do that if necessary.\

If you find the Logos.exe file then you can drag it to the quicklaunch. Another option is to try to reinstall it even thought it shows as installed. That should put things back in place for you.

My folders were already unhidden, but I searched for "Logos.exe" and found it installed in my AppData>Local?>Logos4

I'm OK with programs having to be installed on the main level instead of in the program folder.

But installing the program in the AppData hierarchy doesn't make sense, and makes tracking my programs awkward. NONE of my other .exe files are installed there, so why this one? And it should be installing in its own Logos5 folder, not Logos 4.

At least I found it. I just don't get all this hiding... I've been taking a network security class, and things that hide themselves always end up being problems later.

Does anyone know if this is going to be normalized? I really think our new Logos should act like a normal program... Is there a reason why not? Who are the programmers I should be directing these questions to?

Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall?

Logos 4 & 5 are installed per user; which means that it can be installed in different (Windows) user accounts without requiring Admin privilege (except for PreRequisites which will ask to be elevated). It was a deliberate change from the Logos 3 model (and the one to which you are accustomed).

When installed over Logos 4 it will use its \Logos4 folder. A fresh installation will use \Logos5.

Perform a Custom installation and choose where it should go, but it will not install to the system \Program Files folders e.g. choose c:\Users\yourname\ and that's where the \Logos5 folder will go.

That was an attempt to emphasize that Logos did not require any user maintenance (although it might have been a Microsoft recommendation at the time).

The installation where it went to my AppData folder was the automatic install.

I'm still puzzled, though - just because it doesn't need user maintenance doesn't mean it can't be in a standard place.

I'll go uninstall and reinstall. I'm OK with it being in my user/myname folder... just not AppData.
