Off Topic: Mac Screencasting Software

This is Off Topic, but I wanted to get the Logos Community input on this.

I need to purchase a full-fledged screencasting app for my Mac. QuickTime X isn't enough for my needs.

I've used Camtasia for Mac in the past, and it was a good app, plus I do like Techsmith as a company.

I'm looking at either going for Camtasia for Mac v2, or Telestream's ScreenFlow 4 (since I've also used Telestream products and they're a good company as well, and a lot of people seem to like ScreenFlow).

Which one do you recommend any why? Should I go for Camtasia Mac 2 or ScreenFlow 4? They both look good so it's a tough decision.

G'day Nathan. I've been using Screenflow 3 for about 6 months now. Very powerful with a intuitive (to me) interface. I'm making screencasts to use internally at church on a whole range of things and in suits my needs. Don McAllister from ScreenCasts Online did a podcast which was very helpful and informative

The one advantage I see with SF over Camtasia is Sf is 64 Bit, so performance is going to be better. Camtasia better intrgrates with ScreenCast.com, etc. It's a tough decision since both look good! :-)

Nathan, I'm still on V3 as the upgrade price was hard for me to justify at the moment - Logos5 took priority.

Don's site is http://www.screencastsonline.com/search/?s=screenflow - I actually pay the annual subscription for the Mac podcasts - from memory it was about A$45 and it's very beneficial. Some you can see for free. Don actually useses Screenflow to produce his screencasts.

Interesting site!

From what I'm hearing a lot of people are using ScreenFlow and love it. I'm leaning toward that. Techsmith is a great company which is why I was considering Camtasia, but people seem to love ScreenFlow, and the performance and stability sounds better than Camtasia. I know Camtasia shines on the PC, but ScreenFlow looks great for Mac users. I could always get ScreenFlow, then if I need Camtasia for something, get it later.

Quick question. Can you do a 3D picture in picture with your screencast and webcam in ScreenFlow? I see that feature in Camtasia and wondering if ScreenFlow does it. I think it does.
